4. Installation

4.1 Pre-Installation

  • Ensure the installation area is clean and free of obstructions.
  • Verify that the cabinet can support the weight of the range hood.
  • Locate a suitable power outlet (120V/60Hz) within reach of the 44-inch power cord.
  • Remove the blue protective film from the stainless steel surfaces before installation.

4.2 Mounting the Range Hood

The range hood is designed for under-cabinet mounting. Follow the detailed instructions provided in the included user manual for precise mounting steps. Generally, this involves:

  1. Marking the mounting points on the underside of the cabinet.
  2. Drilling pilot holes for screws.
  3. Securing the range hood to the cabinet using the provided mounting hardware.

4.3 Venting Options: Ducted vs. Ductless

This range hood offers two ventilation modes:

Ducted Mode (External Exhaust)

In this mode, cooking fumes are expelled outside your home through ductwork. An aluminum pipe (not included) is required. The range hood has an interchangeable rectangle adapter for top or rear exhaust with a 4.72-inch vent hole.

Ducted Ventilation Mode

Ductless Mode (Recirculating)

In this mode, air is filtered through a charcoal filter (one included) to remove odors and then recirculated back into the kitchen. No external ductwork is needed.

Ductless Ventilation Mode

Ensure the correct filter type is installed for your chosen ventilation method. The charcoal filter is specifically for ductless operation.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your range hood. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

6.1 Cleaning Aluminum Mesh Filters

The two washable aluminum mesh filters should be cleaned frequently (recommended monthly, or more often depending on cooking habits) to prevent grease buildup and maintain airflow.

  1. To remove, push the filter latch and pull down the filter.
  2. Clean the filters using warm soapy water or place them in a dishwasher.
  3. Allow filters to dry completely before reinstalling.

  1. Remove the aluminum mesh filters first.
  2. Locate the charcoal filter(s) and twist or unclip them to remove.
  3. Install new charcoal filter(s) by reversing the removal process.
  4. Reinstall the aluminum mesh filters.

6.3 Cleaning Exterior Surfaces

Clean the stainless steel exterior with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Always wipe in the direction of the grain. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

6.4 LED Light Replacement

The LED light module is designed for long life. If replacement becomes necessary, please contact Hermitlux customer service for assistance and information on obtaining compatible replacement parts. Do not attempt to replace the LED bulb with a standard bulb, as it may be a custom integrated unit.
