1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your VECHTEL Car Radio. This unit is specifically designed for Toyota Corolla models manufactured between 2009 and 2013. It features an Android 13 operating system, a 9-inch IPS touch screen, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, Steering Wheel Control (SWC) support, Digital Sound Processor (DSP), and includes a backup camera.

2. Compatibility Check

This car radio is compatible with Toyota Corolla models from 2009 to 2013. It is crucial to verify your vehicle's central control panel matches the compatible configurations shown in Figure A below. If your vehicle's central control panel resembles Figure B, this unit is not suitable. In such cases, please contact customer support for assistance.

4. Setup and Installation

Professional installation is recommended. Ensure the vehicle's power is disconnected before beginning installation.

4.1. Wiring Connections

Connect the power cable, GPS antenna, USB cables, RCA cables, external microphone, and rear camera input cable to their respective ports on the car radio unit. Refer to the wiring diagram provided in the included instruction manual for specific connections.

4.2. Steering Wheel Control (SWC) Wiring

If your vehicle's original steering wheel controls are not functioning correctly after installation, follow these steps:

1. Locate the two wires circled in the image below.
2. Carefully cut these two wires.
3. Insulate the cut ends with electrical tape.
4. Test the steering wheel controls again.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto

The unit supports both wireless and wired connections for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This feature allows seamless integration of your smartphone for navigation, calls, messages, and music playback. Access these functions directly from the touch screen.

5.2. Voice Control

Utilize voice commands through Siri (for CarPlay) or Google Assistant (for Android Auto) to control various functions, such as making calls, sending messages, playing music, and getting directions, enhancing driving safety and convenience.

5.3. GPS Navigation

The unit supports both online and offline navigation maps. Connect to Wi-Fi for real-time traffic updates and online map services. Offline maps can be downloaded for use without an internet connection.

5.4. Wi-Fi Connectivity

Connect the car radio to a Wi-Fi hotspot to access online features, download apps, and update software. The unit supports various applications to enrich your in-car experience.

5.5. Bluetooth 5.0

Pair your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0 for hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming. The advanced Bluetooth version ensures stable and high-quality connections.

5.6. FM/RDS Radio

Tune into your favorite FM radio stations. The RDS (Radio Data System) feature displays station information, song titles, and other relevant data where available.

5.7. Mirror Link

The Mirror Link function allows you to display your smartphone's screen directly onto the car radio's display, supporting both iOS and Android devices.

5.8. Steering Wheel Control (SWC)

After proper wiring and configuration (refer to Section 4.2), you can control essential functions like volume adjustment and track skipping directly from your vehicle's steering wheel buttons.

To configure SWC: Go to Settings > Factory Settings > Steering Wheel Control Learning and follow the on-screen instructions.

5.9. Rear Camera Functionality

The included waterproof night vision camera provides clear reversing images. It automatically activates when the vehicle is shifted into reverse gear, offering parking assistance. Guide lines can be enabled or disabled via Car Info > About > Custom Set > turn on/off "show dynamic trackline" and "show static trackline".

The 9-inch IPS HD touchscreen offers a 1280x720 resolution and a 178° wide viewing angle. It supports split-screen display, allowing you to run two applications simultaneously. Customize your interface with various UI themes.

6.1. Steering Wheel Controls Not Working

6.2. Rear Camera Not Displaying Image

Verify that the rear camera and its input cable are securely connected. Check the settings under Car Info > About > Custom Set to ensure the camera display options are correctly configured. If the problem continues, inspect the camera's power supply and signal integrity.

For slow operation or app crashes, try restarting the unit. Ensure the system software is up to date. If problems persist, a factory reset may resolve the issue (note: this will erase all user data and settings).
