2.3 Initial Configuration

After powering on, the router will attempt to establish a cellular connection. You can access the router's web administration interface for further configuration:

  1. Connect a computer directly to one of the router's LAN ports.
  2. Open a web browser and navigate to the router's default IP address (typically http://192.168.50.1 or http://192.168.1.1). Refer to the device's label for the exact default IP and login credentials.
  3. Log in using the default username and password. It is highly recommended to change these credentials immediately for security.
  4. Follow the on-screen wizard for initial setup, including setting up your cellular connection and any desired network settings.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Internet Connectivity

The MAX BR1 Mini 5G primarily uses its built-in cellular modem for internet access. Once a SIM card is inserted and configured, the router will automatically connect to the cellular network. The status LED on the front panel indicates the connection status.

3.2 Ethernet WAN (Optional)

The LAN 3 port can be configured as a WAN port for a second internet source (e.g., a fixed-line broadband connection). This feature requires a paid upgrade to Peplink Prime Care. Once enabled, you can configure the WAN settings via the web administration interface to utilize dual WAN for increased reliability or bandwidth.

3.3 Remote Management

The router supports remote management through Peplink's InControl2 cloud management platform and Peplink InTouch for local device management. These platforms allow for configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting from a centralized location, reducing the need for on-site visits.
