Operating Instructions
This section guides you through preparing espresso and frothing milk.
Preparing Espresso
- Grind Coffee: Use fresh, finely ground espresso beans. For a single shot, use 8-9g of coffee; for a double shot, use 14-15g.
- Fill Portafilter: Place the appropriate filter basket into the portafilter. Use the dosing funnel to add ground coffee, ensuring an even distribution.
- Tamp: Use the tamper to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
- Attach Portafilter: Securely attach the portafilter to the group head of the machine.
- Brew Espresso: Ensure the machine is heated (indicator light solid). Place your pre-heated cup(s) under the portafilter. Press the single or double shot button. The machine will automatically deliver the correct amount of espresso. Monitor the visible pressure gauge to ensure optimal extraction (typically 9-12 bar).

Frothing Milk
- Prepare Milk: Fill the milk frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) up to the bottom of the spout.
- Activate Steam: Turn the steam knob to the steam position. Wait for the steam indicator light to become solid, indicating it's ready.
- Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam valve to release any condensed water from the wand. Close the valve.
- Froth Milk: Immerse the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam valve fully. Angle the pitcher to create a swirling motion. As the milk expands, lower the pitcher slightly to keep the tip just below the surface. Continue until desired texture and temperature are reached.
- Clean Steam Wand: Close the steam valve. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly purge the wand again to clear any internal milk.

If you encounter issues with your Neretva Espresso Machine, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|

| Espresso is watery or lacks crema | Coffee grounds too coarse or too little coffee; insufficient tamping; low pressure. | Adjust grind size to be finer; use more coffee; tamp firmly; ensure machine is fully heated. |
| Steam wand not producing steam | Machine not heated to steam temperature; steam wand clogged. | Wait for steam indicator light to be solid; clean steam wand thoroughly, including the tip. |
