2. Safety Information
Operating a generator safely is paramount. Always follow these guidelines to prevent injury or damage:
- Carbon Monoxide (CO) Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless, and deadly gas. Operate the generator outdoors only, far away from windows, doors, and vents. Never operate it inside a home, garage, basement, crawl space, or other enclosed or partially enclosed area. The iGen4000c is equipped with a CO Sensor for added safety, which will automatically shut down the generator if CO levels become unsafe.
- Electrical Safety: Do not operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all connections are secure and properly grounded. Avoid overloading the generator.
- Fuel Safety: Gasoline is highly flammable. Store fuel in approved containers in a well-ventilated area. Do not refuel while the engine is running or hot.
- Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for a period after shutdown. Avoid contact with these surfaces.
- Low Oil Shutdown: The generator features an automatic low oil shutdown to protect the engine from damage. Ensure the oil level is always maintained correctly.

4. Setup
4.1 Adding Engine Oil
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Using the provided funnel, carefully pour the recommended engine oil (SAE 10W-30) into the oil fill opening until it reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill. The oil capacity is typically specified in the Quick Start Guide.
- Replace the oil fill cap/dipstick securely.
4.2 Adding Fuel
- Ensure the generator is turned off and cool.
- Unscrew the fuel cap.
- Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 87 octane). Do not use E85 or mixed fuels. The tank volume is approximately 1.8 gallons.
- Do not overfill; leave space for fuel expansion.
- Securely replace the fuel cap.
4.3 Battery Connection (for Electric Start)
The generator comes with a battery for electric start. Ensure it is properly connected and charged before first use.
- Locate the battery compartment.
- Connect the positive (+) battery cable (red) to the positive (+) battery terminal.
- Connect the negative (-) battery cable (black) to the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Use the provided battery charger to ensure the battery is fully charged, especially before the first start.
5. Operation
5.1 Control Panel Overview

Figure 3: Generator Control Panel
The control panel features:
- LED Data Center: Displays fuel level, power output, remaining run time, voltage output, and lifetime hours.
- Engine/Battery Shut Off Switch: Main power switch.
- Push Button Electric Start: For easy ignition.
- Eco Mode Switch: Engages economy mode for maximum fuel efficiency and quieter operation.
- Outlets: One 5-20R 120V Duplex Household Outlet, one RV-Ready TT-30R 30 Amp Outlet, and two USB outlets.
- Circuit Breakers: Protect against overload.
- CO Auto Shut Off Indicator: Illuminates if the CO sensor detects unsafe levels.
5.2 Starting the Generator
Ensure the generator is on a level surface and away from any obstructions.
- Prepare for Start: Ensure the fuel cap vent is open (if applicable) and the engine switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Electric Start: Press and hold the 'Push Button Electric Start' button until the engine starts.
- Remote Start: Use the included key fob. Press the 'ON' button on the fob to start the generator.
- Recoil Start (Manual): If electric or remote start is unavailable, pull the recoil starter handle firmly and steadily until the engine starts.
- Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to warm up before connecting any loads.
5.3 Connecting Electrical Devices
Once the generator is running, you can connect your electrical devices.

Figure 4: Connecting a Device
- Plug your devices into the appropriate AC or USB outlets.
- Do not exceed the generator's rated wattage (3300 running watts, 4000 peak watts). Overloading can trip circuit breakers or damage the generator.
- For sensitive electronics, the iGen4000c provides clean power (less than 3% THD).
5.4 Economy Mode
Engage the 'Eco Mode' switch for maximum fuel efficiency and reduced noise levels when the power demand is low. The engine speed will automatically adjust to match the load. Disengage Eco Mode for full power output.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your generator. Always perform maintenance when the generator is off and cool.
- Oil Changes: Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, and then every 50-100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Refer to the Quick Start Guide for specific intervals.
- Air Filter: Inspect and clean the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions. Replace if damaged.
- Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug annually or every 100 hours. Clean or replace as needed.
- Fuel System: If storing the generator for an extended period, drain the fuel or use a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
- General Cleaning: Keep the generator clean and free of debris. Ensure cooling vents are not blocked.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. For problems not listed here, contact customer support.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Generator will not start | No fuel, low oil, battery discharged, engine switch off, spark plug issue. | Check fuel level, add oil, charge battery, ensure engine switch is ON, inspect spark plug. |
| No power output | Circuit breaker tripped, overload, Eco Mode engaged with high load. | Reset circuit breakers, reduce load, disengage Eco Mode if necessary. |
| Generator shuts down unexpectedly | Low oil, CO sensor activated, overload, lack of fuel. | Check oil level, move generator to a well-ventilated area, reduce load, add fuel. |
| LED Data Center not displaying | Electrical fault, loose connection. | Ensure connections are secure. If issue persists, contact support. |
