4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Device

The SG-003A is powered by a built-in 3000mHA lithium battery. To charge the device:

  1. Connect a standard 5V Type-C USB charger to the charging port on the device.
  2. The battery indicator on the display will show the charging status.
  3. Allow the device to charge fully before first use for optimal battery life.

4.2 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the ON/OFF button until the display illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the ON/OFF button until the display turns off.

4.3 Connecting Test Leads

Connect the appropriate test leads to the labeled ports on the top of the device:

  • COM: Common ground connection.
  • OUT: Signal output terminal.
  • IN-24V: Input terminal for negative voltage or current measurement, or 24V loop power.
  • IN+: Input terminal for positive voltage or current measurement.

Ensure all connections are secure before operation.

5. Operating Instructions

The SG-003A features a user-friendly interface. Use the directional buttons (, , , ) to navigate menus and adjust values. The FN button typically accesses function menus or secondary operations, while IN and OUT switch between input and output modes.

5.1 Signal Output Modes

Press the OUT button to enter output mode. Use the directional buttons to select the desired output type (Active Current, Passive Current, Voltage, 24V Loop, PWM).

  • Active Current Output (0-24mA):

    Select "Active Current" mode. Use the directional buttons to adjust the output current value. The maximum load is 750Ω.

  • Passive Current Output (0-24mA):

    Select "Passive Current" mode. An external power supply up to 30V is required for this mode. Adjust the output current as needed.

  • Voltage Output (0-24V):

    Select "Voltage Output" mode. Adjust the desired voltage value. The maximum output current is 30mA.

  • 24V Loop Output:

    This mode provides a 24V power source for powering 2-wire transmitters or other devices. The drive current is 24mA.

  • PWM Pulse Output (0-9999Hz):

    Select "PWM Output" mode. You can set both the frequency and the duty cycle of the pulse signal using the directional buttons.

5.2 Signal Input Measurement Modes

Press the IN button to enter input measurement mode. Connect the signal to be measured to the appropriate input terminals (IN+ and IN-24V/COM).

  • Current Input Measurement (0-24mA):

    Select "Current Input" mode. The device will display the measured current. Input impedance is 100Ω.

  • Voltage Input Measurement (0-30V):

    Select "Voltage Input" mode. The device will display the measured voltage.

5.3 Advanced Functions

  • Automatic Output (AUTO button):

    Press the AUTO button to cycle through automatic output modes: single rise, single fall, and cycle. This automates the change in output voltage or current over a set range.

  • Custom Output Limits:

    In output mode, use the FN button to access settings for custom output limits. You can set arbitrary upper and lower limits for the output signal.

  • Real-time Curve Display (CURVE button):

    Press the CURVE button to view a real-time graph of voltage and current changes. This feature is useful for observing signal stability and transients.

  • Input to Output Conversion (CONVRET button):

    The device supports various conversion modes, such as voltage to active/passive current, and current to voltage. Use the CONVRET button to cycle through these conversion types and configure parameters.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Calibration: While the device is factory calibrated, periodic professional calibration may be required for applications demanding high precision.

7. Troubleshooting
