Introduction
The Autel MaxiBAS BTMS is a professional vehicle data protector designed to prevent the loss of Electronic Control Unit (ECU) codes and electronic presets when replacing or disconnecting a vehicle's battery. This device ensures that critical vehicle settings, such as those for doors, sunroof, windows, air conditioning, and infotainment systems, are retained during maintenance.
Using the MaxiBAS BTMS helps avoid common issues associated with battery disconnection, such as lost throttle correction data, non-functional one-button window lifting, or incorrect window position signals. It provides a continuous 12V power supply to the vehicle's system via the OBD2 port, safeguarding against data loss during extended repairs or battery changes.
Safety Information
- Always ensure the backup battery is a 12V battery and fully charged.
- Connect the red clip to the positive pole (+) and the black clip to the negative pole (-) of the backup battery.
- Do not open vehicle doors, turn on lights, start the vehicle, or activate any electrical devices during the battery replacement process while the memory saver is connected. Doing so may damage the vehicle's OBD connector or electronic systems.
- The device features reverse polarity protection. If the clamps are connected incorrectly, the BTMS will prevent electron flow to protect the backup battery and vehicle electronics. Correct the connection immediately.

Setup and Operation
Follow these steps to use the Autel MaxiBAS BTMS for preserving vehicle data during battery replacement:
- Prepare a 12V Backup Battery: Ensure you have a fully charged 12V backup battery available.
- Connect to Vehicle: Turn off the vehicle's power. Connect the OBD2 end of the BTMS to the vehicle's OBD interface.
- Connect to Backup Battery: Connect the red alligator clip to the positive pole (+) of the 12V backup battery and the black alligator clip to the negative pole (-) of the 12V backup battery.
- Verify Connection: After successful connection, two green LED indicators on the BTMS device will light up. If three green lights are on, the backup battery voltage is greater than 10V. If three red lights are on, the backup battery voltage is less than 10V, and it should be charged or replaced.
- Replace Vehicle Battery: Once the connection is verified and stable, the existing vehicle battery can be safely removed and replaced.
- Disconnect: After the new vehicle battery is installed, disconnect the BTMS from the backup battery first, then from the vehicle's OBD2 port.

Maintenance
The Autel MaxiBAS BTMS is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. Keep the device clean and dry. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Regularly inspect the cable and alligator clips for any signs of wear or damage. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself.
Troubleshooting
LED Indicator Status
- Two Green Lights On: Indicates a successful connection and stable power supply from the backup battery.
- Three Green Lights On: Indicates the backup battery voltage is greater than 10V, which is sufficient for operation.
- Three Red Lights On: Indicates the backup battery voltage is less than 10V. The backup battery needs to be charged or replaced before use.
Data Loss Prevention
- If data loss occurs, ensure all connection steps were followed correctly, especially regarding the backup battery voltage and proper clamp connection.
- Verify that no electrical devices were turned on, and no doors were opened during the battery replacement process, as this can disrupt the power supply and lead to data loss or damage.
Reverse Polarity Protection
The device includes built-in reverse polarity protection. If the positive clamp is accidentally connected to the negative terminal of the backup battery, the BTMS will automatically stop the flow of electrons to prevent damage to both the backup battery and the vehicle's electronic equipment. Correct the connection immediately if this occurs.
