4. Setup
4.1 Power Connection
Connect the provided power cable to the camera's Molex 2P 1.25mm power input. Ensure the power source provides a stable DC 5V supply.
4.2 Lens Installation (Optional)
The NightCam comes with a standard 20mm lens mount. For specific astronomical observation needs or other applications, you can use the included CS lens adapter to switch to different focal length lenses. Carefully screw the desired lens or adapter onto the camera's lens mount.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 USB Drive Mode
When connected to a PC via the USB Type-C port, the NightCam defaults to USB drive mode. This allows for hassle-free data transfer of recorded video files to your computer.
5.2 Webcam Mode
While in USB drive mode, a short press of the button on the camera will activate Webcam mode. This enables real-time video streaming, suitable for live monitoring or video conferencing.
5.3 Recording
The camera automatically records video at 2.7K resolution and 3-30 frames per second. Video files are saved in MP4 format.
6. Mounting Options
The RunCam NightCam supports optional 3D printed mounts, allowing for versatile installation on various platforms, including drones. These mounts enable new perspectives for capturing footage.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body. For the lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution to avoid scratches.
- Storage: Store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: The camera features 3D printed components; handle with care to prevent damage.
8. Troubleshooting
- Issue: Pixelation in extremely dark conditions.
- Solution: The NightCam performs optimally with a small amount of ambient light. In pitch-black environments, pixelation may occur. Ensure there is minimal light available for best results.
- Issue: Unable to change camera settings.
- Solution: This prototype camera has limited user-adjustable settings directly on the device. Advanced configuration may require specific software or firmware modifications, which are not covered in this manual. Refer to the manufacturer's website for potential updates or tools.
