2. Safety Instructions
Always observe general safety regulations when operating power tools. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use hearing protection when operating the tool for extended periods. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Specific Scroll Saw Safety: Ensure the blade is correctly installed and tensioned before operation. Always use the hold-down clamp to secure the workpiece. Keep hands clear of the blade path.

4. Setup
4.1 Workbench Mounting
For stable operation, the scroll saw can be securely mounted to a workbench. Use appropriate bolts and nuts (not included) to fasten the saw through the designated mounting holes in its base.
4.2 Blade Installation
- Ensure the saw is unplugged from the power source.
- Loosen the quick clamping device for the blade at the top and bottom arms.
- Insert the blade into the lower blade holder, ensuring the teeth point downwards. Tighten the lower clamp.
- Carefully guide the blade through the workpiece opening in the table and into the upper blade holder.
- Ensure the blade is properly seated and tensioned. The quick clamping device allows for tool-free blade changes.

Figure 3: Detailed view of the upper blade clamping mechanism, illustrating how the blade is held in place. Proper clamping ensures blade stability and cutting accuracy.
4.3 Table Adjustment for Bevel Cuts
The work table can be tilted up to 47 degrees for bevel cuts.
- Loosen the locking knob located beneath the table.
- Adjust the table to the desired angle using the angle scale.
- Tighten the locking knob firmly to secure the table in position.

4.4 Workpiece Hold-Down Clamp
The integrated hold-down clamp ensures the workpiece is held firmly against the table, preventing vibration and improving cutting accuracy.
- Adjust the height of the hold-down clamp so it rests gently on the workpiece.
- Ensure the clamp does not impede the blade's movement or the workpiece's feed.

4.5 Dust Extraction Connection
Connect a suitable wet/dry vacuum cleaner to the 36 mm dust extraction port to maintain a clean work area and improve visibility.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
Plug the scroll saw into a suitable power outlet. Use the green 'I' button to turn the saw ON and the red 'O' button to turn it OFF.
5.2 Speed Adjustment
The Einhell TC-SS 406 E features variable speed control, allowing you to adjust the cutting speed (400-1600 strokes/min) to match the material and desired cut precision. Rotate the speed control knob to increase or decrease the blade speed.
