Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Geevon 86146VA Weather Station and 228646-W Indoor Outdoor Thermometer. This device is designed to accurately monitor indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, offering valuable environmental data for your home or office. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper functionality and longevity of your product.

What's in the Box

Carefully unpack all components and ensure everything is present:

  • 1 x Main Display Unit (Weather Station)
  • 3 x Wireless Remote Sensors
  • Mounting Hardware (screws, wall anchors)
  • 1 x User Manual (this document)

Note: Batteries are not included. The main unit typically requires AAA batteries, and remote sensors usually require AA batteries. Please check the battery compartments for specific requirements.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

For the Main Display Unit:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the main unit.
  2. Insert the required batteries (e.g., 3 x AAA) according to the polarity markings (+ and -).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.

For the Wireless Remote Sensors:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each remote sensor.
  2. Insert the required batteries (e.g., 2 x AA) according to the polarity markings (+ and -).
  3. Select a channel (1, 2, or 3) for each sensor using the channel switch inside the battery compartment. Ensure each sensor uses a unique channel.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover.

2. Sensor Placement

Place the remote sensors in desired outdoor or indoor locations within a 200ft (60m) range of the main unit. For outdoor placement, choose a shaded area protected from direct sunlight and rain to ensure accurate readings and prolong sensor life. Avoid placing sensors near large metal objects or strong electromagnetic interference sources.

3. Initial Synchronization

After installing batteries in both the main unit and sensors, the main unit will automatically search for and connect to the remote sensors. This process may take a few minutes. Ensure all sensors are within range during initial setup.

4. Mounting Options

  • Tabletop Placement: The main display unit and remote sensors are equipped with integrated stands for convenient placement on any flat surface.
  • Wall Mounting: Both the main display unit and remote sensors feature keyhole slots on their backs for secure wall mounting using the provided screws and anchors.

Operating Instructions

1. LCD Display Overview

Close-up of the Geevon weather station's LCD display showing time, date, indoor temperature and humidity, and three remote sensor readings.

Image: The main display unit features a large LCD screen showing current time, date, indoor temperature and humidity, and readings from up to three remote sensors. Dimensions are also indicated.

The large LCD display provides clear readings for:

  • Current Time and Date
  • Indoor Temperature and Humidity
  • Temperature and Humidity for up to 3 Remote Sensors (Channels 1, 2, 3)
  • Comfort Level Indicator (Wet, Comfort, Dry)
  • Max/Min Temperature and Humidity Records
  • Temperature Trend Arrows

2. Button Functions

Familiarize yourself with the buttons on your main display unit:

  • MEM / ▼ (Down Arrow): Press to view MAX/MIN temperature and humidity records. Hold to clear records. Also used to decrease values in setting mode.
  • CH / ▲ (Up Arrow): Press to switch between remote sensor channels (1, 2, 3) or to view indoor readings. Hold to initiate sensor search. Also used to increase values in setting mode.
  • ℃/℉ Button: Press to switch between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉) temperature units.
  • SET Button: Used to enter and confirm settings for time, date, and alarms.
  • ALERT Button: Used to set temperature and humidity alert thresholds.

3. Viewing Max/Min Records

Press the MEM button repeatedly to cycle through current readings, maximum readings (MAX), and minimum readings (MIN) for both indoor and remote sensor data. The MAX/MIN data updates every 24 hours. To manually clear the MAX/MIN records, press and hold the MEM button.

4. Switching Temperature Units

Press the ℃/℉ button located on the main unit to toggle between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉) temperature displays.

5. Setting Temperature and Humidity Alerts

The device allows you to set custom high and low alert thresholds for temperature and humidity. When the measured value exceeds or falls below these thresholds, an audible alarm will sound.

  1. Press the ALERT button to enter alert setting mode.
  2. Use the ▲ and ▼ buttons to adjust the desired high or low temperature/humidity values.
  3. Press ALERT again to confirm each setting and move to the next.
  4. Once all alerts are set, the alarm icon will appear on the display, indicating that alerts are active.

6. Monitoring Multiple Zones

Diagram showing the main unit monitoring three remote sensors placed in a garden, bedroom, and wine cellar, each assigned a channel (CH1, CH2, CH3).

Image: The weather station can monitor up to four zones simultaneously: one indoor (main unit's sensor) and three remote locations (e.g., garden, bedroom, wine cellar) using the wireless sensors.

With three wireless remote sensors, you can monitor temperature and humidity in up to four different locations (one indoor via the main unit, and three remote). Press the CH button to cycle through the readings of Channel 1, Channel 2, Channel 3, and the indoor reading.

7. Comfort Level Indicator

Image: The display shows temperature and humidity for indoor and three remote channels, along with comfort icons. Definitions for 'COM' (Comfort), 'DRY', and 'WET' humidity ranges are provided.

The display features a comfort level indicator to quickly assess the environment:

  • COM (Comfort): Humidity between 40% and 70%, and temperature between 20℃ and 28℃ (68℉ and 82.4℉).
  • DRY: Humidity below 40%.
  • WET: Humidity above 70%.

Maintenance

1. Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries in the main unit or the respective remote sensor. Always replace all batteries in a unit at the same time with new batteries of the same type. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.

2. Cleaning

Wipe the display unit and sensors with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the plastic components or the LCD screen. Ensure no moisture enters the battery compartments or other openings.

3. Sensor Care

For outdoor sensors, periodically check for debris or obstructions that might affect readings. Ensure the sensor is still protected from direct weather elements. If the sensor is exposed to extreme conditions, its lifespan may be reduced.
