3. Safety Information

Your safety and the safety of others are very important. Always follow these safety precautions when operating or maintaining the engine.

4. Initial Setup

Before starting your maXpeedingrods engine for the first time, perform the following initial setup steps:

1. Add Engine Oil: The engine is shipped without oil. Add 1.1 liters of SAE 10W-30 engine oil to the crankcase. Ensure the engine is on a level surface when checking the oil level. Do not overfill.
2. Add Gasoline: Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline. The fuel tank capacity is 6 liters. Do not overfill and ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened.
3. Check Connections: Verify that all hoses, wires, and fasteners are securely connected and tightened.
4. Mounting: Ensure the engine is securely mounted to its intended application according to the application's instructions and the engine's mounting hole diagrams (refer to Figure 2).

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to start and operate your maXpeedingrods 15HP 420cc Gas Engine.

Starting the Engine

1. Move the fuel valve lever to the "ON" position.
2. For Cold Start: Turn the choke lever to the "START" position.
   For Warm Start: Turn the choke lever to the "RUN" position. (Tip: Cold or Warm depends on the temperature of the engine body.)
3. Move the throttle lever away from the "SLOW" position, about 1/3 of the way toward the "FAST" position.
4. Press the engine switch to the "RUN" position.
5. Pull the recoil handle slowly until you feel increased resistance, then pull rapidly.
6. After the engine starts, turn the choke lever slowly to the "RUN" position.

Stopping the Engine

1. Move the throttle lever to the "SLOW" position.
2. Press the engine switch to the "STOP" position.
3. Turn the fuel valve lever to the "OFF" position.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your engine. Always ensure the engine is off and cool before performing any maintenance.

Oil Change

Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, and then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 10W-30 oil.

1. Place a suitable container under the oil drain plug.
2. Remove the oil drain plug and the oil filler cap to allow the oil to drain completely.
3. Reinstall the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
4. Refill with 1.1 liters of new SAE 10W-30 engine oil.
5. Reinstall the oil filler cap.

Air Filter Maintenance

Inspect the air filter every 25 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Clean or replace as needed.

1. Remove the air filter cover.
2. Remove the foam filter element.
3. Wash the foam element in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to air dry completely. Lightly oil the foam element with engine oil and squeeze out excess.
4. Reinstall the foam element and air filter cover.

Spark Plug Inspection

Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours of operation or annually. Replace if necessary.

1. Remove the spark plug cap.
2. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
3. Check for carbon deposits, electrode wear, and proper gap. Clean or replace as needed.
4. Reinstall the spark plug and spark plug cap.
