Setup Guide
1. Hardware Installation
Follow these steps to install hard drives into your ORICO TS500 NAS enclosure:
- Prepare Hard Drives: Ensure your 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA hard drives (HDDs) or solid-state drives (SSDs) are compatible. The enclosure supports up to 110TB total storage capacity.
- Open Drive Bays: Gently pull the drive bay handles to slide out the drive trays.
- Install Drives: Place each HDD/SSD into a drive tray. Secure the drives using the provided screws. Ensure the connectors align correctly.
- Insert Drive Trays: Slide the filled drive trays back into the enclosure until they click into place.
- Connect Power: Connect the power adapter to the NAS enclosure and then to a power outlet.
- Connect Network: Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the NAS enclosure's LAN port and the other end to your router or network switch.

2. Initial Software Configuration
After hardware installation, proceed with the software setup:
- Power On: Press the power button on the front of the NAS enclosure. Wait for the system to boot up.
- Download Welink APP: For mobile access and initial setup, download the "Welink" application from your device's app store (iOS/Android).
- Discover NAS: Open the Welink app. The app should automatically discover your ORICO TS500 on the local network. If not, ensure your mobile device is connected to the same network as the NAS.
- Initialize Drives and RAID: Follow the on-screen prompts in the Welink app to initialize the installed hard drives. You will be guided through setting up your preferred RAID configuration (e.g., RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, JBOD, Single Disk). Hardware RAID is supported.
- Create User Accounts: Set up administrator and user accounts as prompted. This is crucial for secure access and data management.
- Network Settings: Configure network settings, including static IP address if desired, though DHCP is usually sufficient for most home networks.
Operating Instructions
1. Data Storage and Access
The ORICO TS500 allows flexible data storage and access:
- Local Network Access: Access shared folders from any computer on your local network using standard network protocols (e.g., SMB/CIFS for Windows, AFP for macOS, NFS for Linux).
- Mobile App Access (Welink): Use the Welink app on your mobile device to upload, download, stream, and manage files remotely. The app provides automatic VPN security for direct file access.
- Remote Access: Configure remote access through the Welink app for secure access to your files from outside your home network.

3. Data Backup and Synchronization
Ensure your data is safe with backup features:
- Remote Data Backup: Use the Welink APP to perform online editing of pictures and documents, and to back up data from your mobile devices to the NAS.
- Team/Family Storage: The NAS serves as a central storage hub for teams and families, enabling easy management and secure storage of all valuable data.

Maintenance
1. System Updates
Regularly check for and install system updates through the Welink app or web interface to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
2. Drive Health Monitoring
Monitor the health of your installed hard drives through the NAS management interface. Replace any failing drives promptly, especially if using RAID configurations that allow for drive redundancy.
3. Cleaning and Ventilation
Keep the NAS enclosure clean and ensure proper ventilation. The built-in fan provides efficient heat dissipation, maintaining an optimal operating temperature of approximately 35°C. Avoid blocking air vents.
