3. Installation

The FIREGAS 60cm Range Hood can be installed in two modes: Extraction Mode (ducted) or Recirculation Mode (ductless, using charcoal filters). Choose the appropriate method for your kitchen setup.

3.1 Wall Mounting

The range hood is designed for wall-mounted installation. Ensure the wall is strong enough to support the weight of the appliance.

1. Prepare the Wall: Mark the drilling points according to the provided template or dimensions. Ensure the height above the cooking surface complies with local safety regulations (typically 65-75 cm for electric hobs, 75-85 cm for gas hobs).
2. Drill Holes: Drill holes for the mounting brackets and secure them firmly to the wall using the supplied screws and wall plugs.
3. Mount the Hood: Carefully lift the range hood and attach it to the installed mounting brackets. Ensure it is level and securely fastened.
4. Install Chimney Sections: Assemble and install the upper and lower chimney sections, securing them to the wall and the hood body.

3.2 Connecting to Ventilation (Extraction Mode)

For extraction mode, the range hood expels air outside through a ducting system.

1. Connect Ducting: Attach the flexible air exhaust pipe to the outlet on the top of the range hood. Extend the pipe to an external vent.
2. Seal Connections: Ensure all ducting connections are sealed to prevent air leaks and maximize efficiency.

In extraction mode, cooking fumes and odors are drawn into the hood, filtered through the grease filter, and then expelled directly outside through a ducting system. This method provides the most effective removal of airborne particles and moisture.

3.3 Recirculation Mode (Ductless Installation)

For recirculation mode, the air is filtered and returned to the kitchen. This mode requires the installation of charcoal filters (model CC130).

1. Install Charcoal Filters: Attach the charcoal filters to the motor housing inside the range hood. Refer to the filter packaging for specific installation instructions.
2. No External Ducting: No external ducting is required for this mode. Ensure the air outlet on the top of the hood is unobstructed for filtered air to return to the room.

In recirculation mode, air passes through the grease filter and then through activated charcoal filters, which absorb odors. The purified air is then released back into the kitchen. This is ideal when external venting is not possible.

3.4 Electrical Connection

Connect the range hood to a suitable power outlet. Ensure the electrical installation complies with local regulations.

4. Operation

The FIREGAS 60cm Range Hood features a user-friendly touch control panel and LED display for easy operation.

• ON/OFF Button: Press to turn the hood on or off.
• Speed Adjustment (+/-): Use these buttons to cycle through the 3 available fan speeds.
• Light Button: Press to turn the LED lights on or off.
• Timer Button: Activates the timer function, allowing the hood to run for 1 to 5 minutes before automatically shutting off.

4.2 Fan Speed Settings

The range hood offers 3 fan speed settings to accommodate various cooking needs:

• Speed 1 (Low): Ideal for simmering or light cooking with minimal steam and odors.
• Speed 2 (Medium): Suitable for general cooking, frying, and moderate steam.
• Speed 3 (High): For heavy cooking, grilling, or when significant steam and strong odors are present.

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the optimal performance and longevity of your FIREGAS range hood.

5.1 Cleaning the Exterior

Clean the exterior surfaces of the range hood regularly with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.

5.2 Cleaning/Replacing Grease Filters

The aluminum grease filters capture grease particles from cooking fumes. They should be cleaned regularly (approximately every 2-4 weeks, depending on usage) to maintain efficiency.

1. Remove Filters: Locate the release latches on the grease filters and unclip them to remove.
2. Clean Filters: Wash the filters in hot soapy water or in a dishwasher. Ensure they are completely dry before re-installing.
3. Re-install Filters: Insert the dry filters back into their slots and secure the latches.

5.3 Replacing Charcoal Filters (Recirculation Mode Only)

Charcoal filters (model CC130) absorb odors and cannot be washed. They need to be replaced every 3-6 months, depending on usage.

1. Remove Old Filters: Disconnect the hood from power. Remove the grease filters. Twist or unclip the old charcoal filters from the motor housing.
2. Install New Filters: Attach new CC130 charcoal filters to the motor housing, ensuring they are securely fastened.
3. Re-install Grease Filters: Re-install the aluminum grease filters.
