Package Contents

Before you begin, please ensure all items are present in your package:

  • HEIMAN Z-Wave Door Sensor (Main Unit and Magnetic Strip)
  • 2 x AAA Batteries (pre-installed or included separately)
  • Adhesive Mounting Tape
  • User Manual (this document)

Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to set up and install your HEIMAN Z-Wave Door Sensor:

  1. Prepare the Surface: Choose a clean, dry, and flat surface on your door or window frame where the sensor will be mounted. Ensure the main unit and the magnetic strip can be aligned properly when the door/window is closed.
  2. Insert Batteries: If not already installed, open the battery compartment of the main sensor unit and insert the two AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity.
  3. Pair with Z-Wave Hub:
    • Put your Z-Wave hub into inclusion/pairing mode. Refer to your Z-Wave hub's manual for specific instructions.
    • Activate the sensor's pairing mode. This usually involves pressing a button on the sensor (refer to the sensor's specific pairing instructions, often a small button inside the battery compartment or on the side).
    • Confirm successful pairing on your Z-Wave hub's interface.
  4. Mount the Sensor:
Three steps for installing the HEIMAN Z-Wave Door Sensor: peeling adhesive, placing main unit, and showing installed sensor

Image: A step-by-step guide illustrating the installation process: 1. Peeling the protective film from the adhesive tape, 2. Attaching the main sensor unit to the door frame, and 3. The final appearance of the installed sensor and magnetic strip on a door.

    • Peel the protective film from the adhesive tape provided.
    • Attach the main sensor unit to the door or window frame.
    • Attach the smaller magnetic strip to the moving part of the door or window, aligning it with the main sensor unit. The gap between the main unit and the magnetic strip should be minimal (typically less than 10mm) when the door/window is closed.
  5. Test Installation: Open and close the door/window to verify that the sensor registers the change in status on your Z-Wave hub's application.

Operating Instructions

Once installed and paired, the HEIMAN Z-Wave Door Sensor operates automatically:

  • Open/Close Detection: The sensor detects when the door or window it is mounted on is opened or closed.
  • Real-time Notifications: Upon detection of an open or close event, the sensor sends a signal to your Z-Wave hub, which then triggers notifications to your linked mobile application.
  • Smartphone displaying a notification from the HEIMAN Z-Wave Door Sensor, with a burglar in the background

  • Tamper Alarm: If the sensor is forcibly removed or tampered with, it may trigger a tamper alarm, sending an alert to your Z-Wave hub and mobile application.
  • Battery Status: The sensor reports its battery level to the Z-Wave hub. You will receive a low battery indication when it's time to replace the batteries.
  • Illustration of two full batteries, representing up to 3 years of standby time for the sensor

  • Cleaning: Wipe the sensor with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Alignment Check: Periodically check that the main sensor unit and the magnetic strip remain properly aligned and securely attached.
