1. Overview

The GREATHTEK HDMI Extender Over IP (Model GHT-DT243) allows for the extension of HDMI audio and video signals over a single Cat5e/6/7 Ethernet cable. This system supports 1080p@60Hz resolution with no delay and no compression, ensuring high-quality transmission up to 150 meters (492 feet). It features a local loop-out port on the transmitter unit for simultaneous local monitoring and supports one-to-many connections using a Gigabit Ethernet switch.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1. 1-to-1 Connection

This configuration extends an HDMI signal from a single source to a single remote display, with an optional local display.

  1. Connect your HDMI source (e.g., PC, PS4, TV Box) to the HDMI IN port of the Transmitter (TX) unit using an HDMI cable.
  2. (Optional) Connect a local monitor to the HDMI OUT (Loop Out) port of the TX unit using an HDMI cable. This allows you to view the source content locally.
  3. Connect the RJ45 port of the TX unit to the RJ45 port of the Receiver (RX) unit using a single Cat5e/6/7 Ethernet cable. Ensure the cable is of high quality for optimal performance.
  4. Connect the HDMI OUT port of the RX unit to your remote display (e.g., TV, Projector) using an HDMI cable.
  5. Connect the provided DC 5V power adapters to both the TX and RX units.

3.2. 1-to-Many Connection

This configuration allows a single HDMI source to transmit to multiple remote displays via a Gigabit Ethernet switch.

  1. Connect your HDMI source (e.g., HD media player, PC) to the HDMI IN port of the Transmitter (TX) unit using an HDMI cable.
  2. Connect the RJ45 port of the TX unit to an available port on a Gigabit Ethernet switch.
  3. Connect multiple Receiver (RX) units to other available ports on the same Gigabit Ethernet switch using Cat5e/6/7 Ethernet cables. The system supports up to 253 RX units.
  4. Connect the HDMI OUT port of each RX unit to its respective remote display.
  5. Connect the provided DC 5V power adapters to all TX and RX units.

Note: This product requires a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet switch for 1-to-many configurations and is not compatible with standard home routers for this purpose. The Gigabit switch must be purchased separately.

4. Operating Instructions

The GREATHTEK HDMI Extender is designed for plug-and-play operation. Once all connections are made and power is supplied, the system should automatically detect and transmit the HDMI signal.

  • Power (PWR) LED: Indicates that the unit is receiving power.
  • Status (STA) LED: Indicates active HDMI signal transmission.

The extender supports video resolutions up to 1920x1080 at 60Hz (1080p@60Hz). It is also backward compatible with lower resolutions such as 1080p@30Hz, 1080i, 720p@60Hz, and 720p@30Hz.

5. Maintenance
