4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Scanner

1. Connect the charging cable to the charging dock and a power source.
2. Place the scanner onto the charging dock. Ensure proper alignment for charging.
3. The scanner's screen will indicate charging status. A full charge typically takes several hours.

4.2 Powering On/Off

Locate the physical power switch key on the scanner. Push the switch key to the 'ON' position to power on the device. Push it to the 'OFF' position to power off and conserve battery.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Scanning

1. Ensure the scanner is powered on and connected to your host device (see Section 6 for connectivity).
2. Point the scanner's window at the barcode you wish to scan.
3. Press the trigger button. A scan line or light will appear.
4. Hold steady until a successful scan is indicated by an audible beep, vibration, or visual confirmation on the screen.

5.2 Screen Navigation and Settings

The integrated screen and keypad allow for direct configuration. Use the navigation buttons (Up, Down, OK, Back) to browse menus and adjust settings. The screen displays current time, battery level, connection mode, barcode data, total stored barcodes, and total amount.

6. Connectivity

The Tera HW0015 offers multiple connectivity options:

• 2.4G Wireless Connection: Insert the 2.4G USB dongle into your host device. The scanner will automatically attempt to pair. This mode offers a transmission distance of up to 328ft in open areas and 164ft with obstacles.
• Bluetooth Connection: Activate Bluetooth on your host device. On the scanner's screen, navigate to 'Connection' and select 'Bluetooth'. Follow the on-screen prompts or refer to the full user manual for specific pairing barcodes if required.
• USB Cable Connection: Connect the scanner directly to your device using the provided USB cable. This mode typically functions as a plug-and-play keyboard emulation (HID).

7. Scanning Modes

The scanner supports various operational modes to suit different scanning needs:

• Manual-Trigger Mode: Press the trigger button to initiate each scan. Ideal for precise, individual barcode scanning.
• Continuous Scan Mode: The scanner continuously emits a scan beam, reading barcodes as they pass through the scan area without requiring trigger presses. Suitable for high-volume scanning.
• Auto-Sense Mode: The scanner automatically detects a barcode within its field of view and initiates a scan. This mode is useful for hands-free operation when the scanner is placed on its cradle or a stand.

8. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the scanning window is free of dust and smudges for optimal performance.
• Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the scanner regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period.
• Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Durability: The device is rated IK08 for impact resistance and IP54 for dust and splash protection, having passed a 6.6ft (2m) drop test. However, avoid intentional drops or exposure to harsh conditions.
