5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your water heater. Always disconnect power before any maintenance.

5.1 Safety Thermal Cut-off Reset

If the product stops working due to the safety thermal cut-off protection, you can reset it to restore normal operation. Warning: Ensure power is OFF before proceeding.

  1. Remove the outer shell of the water heater.
  2. Locate the safety thermal cut-off switch inside the unit.
  3. Press the reset button with a screwdriver.
  4. Reinstall the outer shell.

To determine if the safety thermal cut-off has tripped:

  • The display screen is not working.
  • The municipal power supply is normal (other appliances at home are functioning).
  • The circuit breaker connected to the electric water heater has not tripped.

If all three conditions are met, the product's limiter may have tripped, and you will need to open the product cover to reset the safety thermal cut-off.

Four-step visual guide on how to reset the safety thermal cut-off: 1. Remove outer shell, 2. Locate thermal cut-off, 3. Press reset button with screwdriver, 4. Install outer shell.

6. Troubleshooting

If your water heater is not functioning as expected, consider the following common issues:

  • No Hot Water: Check if the circuit breaker has tripped. Ensure the unit is powered on and the temperature is set correctly. Verify water flow is above the minimum requirement (0.5 GPM). If the display is off but other appliances work, refer to the Safety Thermal Cut-off Reset instructions in Section 5.1.
  • Insufficient Hot Water: This may occur if the inlet water temperature is very low or if the flow rate exceeds the unit's capacity for the given inlet temperature. Refer to the Water Heater Selection Guide (Figure 7) to confirm suitability for your usage.
  • Unit Not Turning On: Confirm electrical connections are secure and the breaker is not tripped.

For persistent issues, contact MIZUDO customer support.
