  • 1 x Vikye X99 P4 Motherboard
  • 1 x Metal I/O Shield
  • 1 x SATA Connection Cable

Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure your workspace is clean, well-lit, and static-free. It is recommended to wear an anti-static wrist strap to prevent damage to components.

1. Prepare Your System Case

  • Open your computer case and remove any existing components if upgrading.
  • Install the provided metal I/O shield into the rear opening of your computer case.
  • Carefully align the motherboard with the standoffs inside the case. Ensure all screw holes on the motherboard align with the standoffs.
  • Secure the motherboard to the case using appropriate screws. Do not overtighten.

2. CPU Installation

The X99 P4 motherboard uses an LGA2011 socket. Handle the CPU by its edges only.

  1. Locate the CPU socket on the motherboard.
  2. Gently push down the load lever and pull it away from the socket to open the CPU retention frame.
  3. Carefully place the CPU into the socket, ensuring the golden triangle/arrow on the CPU aligns with the corresponding mark on the socket. Do not force the CPU into place.
  4. Close the retention frame and push the load lever back into its locked position.
  5. Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the top of the CPU.
  6. Install your CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions.

4. Storage Device Installation (SATA & M.2)

  • SATA Drives: Connect your SATA hard drives or SSDs to the SATA 3.0 (1x) or SATA 2.0 (2x) ports using the provided SATA cable. Connect the other end of the SATA cable to your storage device.
  • M.2 NVMe SSD: If installing an M.2 NVMe SSD, locate the M.2 slot. Insert the M.2 SSD at an angle and then gently push it down, securing it with the small screw provided with your motherboard or SSD.

5. Power Connections

  • Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector from your power supply unit (PSU) to the main 24-pin power socket on the motherboard.
  • Connect the 8-pin (or 4+4 pin) CPU power connector from your PSU to the CPU power socket near the CPU.
  • Connect power cables to your graphics card (if applicable) and storage devices.

6. Front Panel and Peripheral Connections

  • Connect the front panel headers (Power SW, Reset SW, HDD LED, Power LED) from your case to the corresponding pins on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard's silkscreen labels for correct orientation.
  • Connect front panel USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 headers.
  • Connect front panel audio headers.
