4. Device Overview and Setup

4.1 Device Components

• LCD Display: Shows CO concentration, temperature, humidity, and battery status.
• ON/OFF Button (M): Press and hold to power on/off. Short press to switch between °C and °F.
• Test Button (S): Short press to perform a self-test of the alarm function.

4.2 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the device. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the charging port on the side of the detector and plug the other end into a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port. The battery indicator on the LCD will show charging status.

4.3 Powering On/Off

• To Power On: Press and hold the 'M' (ON/OFF) button for approximately 3 seconds until the display illuminates. The device will undergo a 40-second preheating process, indicated on the screen. During preheating, CO readings may be unstable.
• To Power Off: Press and hold the 'M' (ON/OFF) button for approximately 3 seconds until the display turns off.

4.4 Placement Considerations

For optimal performance and accurate readings, consider the following:

• Place the detector in an area where CO is likely to accumulate, but away from direct drafts, vents, or windows.
• Avoid placing near cooking appliances, fireplaces, or exhaust fans, which can cause false readings.
• Ensure the air inlet is not obstructed.
• For personal monitoring, use the lanyard to keep the device close to your breathing zone.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Understanding the Display

Once powered on and preheating is complete, the LCD will display real-time readings:

• CO Concentration: Shown in Parts Per Million (PPM).
• Temperature: Displayed in °C or °F.
• Humidity: Displayed as a percentage (RH%).
• Battery Indicator: Shows current battery level.
• Alarm Icon: Appears when CO concentration exceeds the alarm threshold.

5.2 Temperature Unit Conversion

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), short press the 'M' button while the device is on.

5.3 Carbon Monoxide Detection and Alarm

The device continuously monitors CO levels. The display concentration is 100ppm, meaning it will show a reading at or above this level. The alarm concentration is set at 150ppm.

• If CO concentration exceeds 150ppm, the device will emit an audible alarm (>85dB) and the alarm icon will flash on the display.
• In case of an alarm, immediately move to fresh air and ventilate the area. Do not re-enter the area until the CO level has dropped to a safe reading.

5.4 Testing the Alarm

To ensure the alarm function is working correctly, short press the 'S' (Test) button. The device will emit a test alarm sound and flash the alarm icon. Perform this test periodically to confirm functionality.

• Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in water.
• Battery: Recharge the battery when the low battery indicator appears. Avoid fully depleting the battery frequently to prolong its lifespan.
• Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use for extended periods.
• Sensor Lifespan: Electrochemical sensors have a limited lifespan. While not user-replaceable, regular testing helps ensure functionality. Consider replacing the device after several years of use, or if it consistently provides erratic readings.
