4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The BSIDE H1 thermometer requires two (2) AAA batteries for operation. Batteries are included with the product.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the handle of the thermometer.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Taking a Measurement

  1. Point the thermometer at the target surface.
  2. Press and hold the measurement trigger. The laser sight will activate to assist with accurate targeting.
  3. The temperature reading will appear on the LCD display. Release the trigger to hold the temperature data.

The distance to spot ratio (D:S) for this device is 12:1. This means that at a distance of 12 units from the target, the measurement spot diameter will be 1 unit. For example, at 48 cm distance, the testing spot diameter is 4 cm. This ratio allows for accurate measurement of targets at greater distances.

5.2 Switching Temperature Units (℃/℉)

To switch between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉), press the unit selection button (often labeled with ℃/℉ or found within the 'Mode' options).

5.3 Adjustable Emissivity

Emissivity is a measure of an object's ability to emit infrared energy. Different materials have different emissivity values. The BSIDE H1 allows you to adjust the emissivity setting to improve measurement accuracy for various surfaces.

  • Press the 'Mode' button until the emissivity setting is displayed.
  • Use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the emissivity value (typically from 0.1 to 0.99).
  • Refer to common emissivity tables for typical values of materials you intend to measure.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse in water.
  • Storage: Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Device does not power on.Low or dead batteries; incorrect battery installation.Replace batteries; ensure correct polarity.
Inaccurate temperature readings.Incorrect emissivity setting; distance to target too far or too close; dirty sensor lens.Adjust emissivity for the material; ensure proper D:S ratio; clean the sensor lens gently.
Laser not visible.Laser feature turned off; bright ambient light.Check device settings to ensure laser is enabled; use in less bright conditions if possible.
