Operating Instructions

Viewing Slides and Negatives

  1. Place your slides or negative films directly onto the illuminated surface of the light box.
  2. Adjust the brightness as needed for optimal viewing.
  3. The large surface allows for arranging multiple items for comparison or batch viewing.

Digitizing with Mobile Apps

To digitize your slides and negative films, you will need to download the appropriate mobile application from your device's App Store.

  • For slides: Download the SlideScan app.
  • For negative films: Download the FilmBox app.

General Scanning Steps:

  1. Ensure the light box is powered on and set to an appropriate brightness level.
  2. Place the slide(s) or negative film(s) flat on the light box surface. For negative films, use the included magnets to secure them if they tend to curl.
  3. Open the relevant scanning app (SlideScan for slides, FilmBox for negatives) on your mobile phone.
  4. Position your mobile phone camera horizontally above the slide/negative, ensuring it is centered and focused.
  5. Follow the in-app instructions to capture the image. The app will typically invert colors for negatives and enhance image quality.
  6. Use the app's editing features to further refine your digitized images.
  7. Save and share your newly digitized memories!

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the light box. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the acrylic.
  • Storage: Store the light box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Handling: Handle the device with care to prevent scratches or damage to the illuminated surface.

Troubleshooting

  • Light Box Not Turning On: Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the light box and the power source. Try a different USB port or power adapter.
  • Uneven Illumination: Check for any obstructions on the light box surface. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
  • Poor Scan Quality: Ensure your mobile phone camera is clean, focused, and positioned directly above the film/slide. Adjust the light box brightness. Refer to the mobile app's instructions for optimal settings.
