1. Introduction

The K&F CONCEPT ND100000 filter is designed for specialized photography requiring extreme light reduction, particularly for solar observation and long-exposure photography in bright conditions. This filter reduces light by 16.6 f-stops (ND100000, optical density 5.0), allowing for extended shutter speeds and wider apertures without overexposure. It is certified ISO 12312-2:2015 for safe solar viewing through a camera's electronic viewfinder or live-view screen, but not for direct naked-eye solar observation.

2. Setup

2.1 Attaching the Filter

  1. Ensure your camera lens has a 72mm filter thread. If your lens has a different thread size, a step-up or step-down ring (sold separately) may be required.
  2. Carefully align the filter's thread with the lens's filter thread.
  3. Gently rotate the filter clockwise until it is securely attached. The CNC anti-slip frame is designed for easy installation and removal. Avoid overtightening.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Solar Photography Safety

WARNING: This filter is for camera use only. DO NOT use this filter for direct naked-eye solar observation. When photographing the sun, always use your camera's electronic viewfinder or live-view screen. Looking directly at the sun through an optical viewfinder, even with this filter, can cause severe and permanent eye damage.

Ensure the filter is securely attached to your lens before pointing the camera towards the sun. Never remove the filter while the camera is pointed at the sun.

3.2 Long Exposure Photography

The ND100000 filter reduces incoming light by 16.6 f-stops, enabling very long exposures even in bright daylight. This is ideal for:

  • Creating motion blur effects in water (e.g., silky smooth waterfalls, misty oceans).
  • Removing moving objects (e.g., people, cars) from busy scenes.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Filter

The filter features a 28-layer nano-coating that makes it waterproof, oil-resistant, and scratch-resistant. To clean the filter:

  1. Gently brush off any loose dust or debris using a soft lens brush or air blower.
  2. If smudges or fingerprints are present, apply a small amount of lens cleaning solution to a clean microfiber cloth.
  3. Wipe the filter surface in a circular motion from the center outwards until clean. Avoid applying excessive pressure.
  4. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the coating.
