2. General Safety Instructions

WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

2.1 Work Area Safety

  • Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2.2 Electrical Safety

  • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

2.3 Personal Safety

  • Always wear eye protection. Use safety glasses, goggles, or a face shield.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts.
  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation and Removal

This tool is part of the PARKSIDE X 20 V Team series and requires a compatible 20V battery and charger (sold separately).

  1. To Install: Align the battery with the battery slot on the tool. Slide the battery into the slot until it clicks securely into place.
  2. To Remove: Press the battery release button (usually located on the battery itself) and slide the battery out of the tool.

4.2 Installing and Removing Drill Bits/Screwdriver Bits

The drill driver features a Röhm metal chuck with an automatic spindle lock for easy bit changes.

  1. To Install: Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise until the jaws are open wide enough to insert the bit. Insert the bit fully into the chuck. Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws firmly around the bit. The automatic spindle lock will engage, allowing for single-hand tightening.
  2. To Remove: Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to loosen the jaws and remove the bit.

4.3 Adjusting Torque and Drill Mode

The torque setting ring is located behind the chuck.

  • Torque Settings (1-21): Rotate the ring to select the desired torque level. Lower numbers are for smaller screws or softer materials, while higher numbers are for larger screws or harder materials.
  • Drill Mode (Drill Symbol): Rotate the ring to the drill symbol for drilling applications. In this mode, the clutch is bypassed, providing maximum torque.

4.4 Speed Selection

The drill driver has a 2-speed gearbox, controlled by a switch on top of the tool.

  • Gear 1 (Low Speed): For high torque applications like driving large screws or drilling large holes. (0-500 rpm)
  • Gear 2 (High Speed): For faster drilling or driving smaller screws. (0-2000 rpm)

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off and Speed Control

  • To Power On: Press the trigger switch. The integrated LED work light will illuminate when the trigger is pressed.
  • Speed Control: The speed is continuously variable by the amount of pressure applied to the trigger switch. Pressing lightly results in lower speed, while pressing fully results in maximum speed for the selected gear.
  • Quickstop: Releasing the trigger switch immediately stops the chuck rotation.
  • To Power Off: Release the trigger switch.

5.2 Forward/Reverse Rotation

The forward/reverse switch is located above the trigger.

  • Forward Rotation: Push the switch to the left (when viewed from the rear of the tool) for drilling and driving screws.
  • Reverse Rotation: Push the switch to the right for removing screws or freeing jammed bits.
  • Lock Position: When the switch is in the center position, the trigger is locked, preventing accidental startup. Always engage the lock when not in use or when changing accessories.

5.3 Drilling and Screwdriving Tips

  • Always select the appropriate torque setting or drill mode for the task.
  • Use sharp drill bits and screwdriver bits.
  • Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the tool.
  • For drilling into hard materials, start with a pilot hole.
  • When driving screws, ensure the bit is fully seated in the screw head to prevent cam-out.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your tool.

6.1 Cleaning

  • Always remove the battery before cleaning.
  • Keep the ventilation openings clean to prevent overheating. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clear dust and debris.
  • Wipe the tool housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Clean the chuck jaws regularly to ensure proper gripping of bits.

6.2 Storage

  • Store the tool in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Store the tool and battery separately.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

6.3 Brushless Motor

The brushless motor design eliminates the need for carbon brush replacement, reducing maintenance requirements compared to brushed motors.
