Setup and Installation

This thermostatic shower kit is designed for wall-mounted installation. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified plumber to ensure proper function and compliance with local plumbing codes.

Before You Begin:

  • Ensure you have all necessary tools: drill, spirit level, adjustable wrench, PTFE tape, measuring tape, pencil.
  • Turn off the main water supply to your property.
  • Flush the water lines to remove any debris.

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Wall: Mark the desired position for the thermostatic mixer on the wall. Ensure the hot and cold water pipes are correctly spaced and aligned.
  2. Install Eccentric Connectors: Apply PTFE tape to the threads of the eccentric connectors. Screw them into the wall outlets, ensuring they are level and the correct distance apart for the mixer.
  3. Attach Wall Plates: Place the decorative wall plates over the eccentric connectors.
  4. Mount the Mixer: Connect the thermostatic mixer to the eccentric connectors. Hand-tighten first, then use an adjustable wrench to secure, being careful not to overtighten. Ensure the mixer is level.
  5. Install Hand Shower Holder: Mark and drill holes for the hand shower wall bracket at a convenient height. Secure the bracket with screws and wall plugs.
  6. Connect Shower Hose and Hand Shower: Attach one end of the shower hose to the outlet on the mixer and the other end to the hand shower. Place the hand shower in its holder.
  7. Test for Leaks: Slowly turn on the main water supply and check all connections for leaks.

Operating Instructions

The IMEX BTM039-5 MONZA features a thermostatic mixer for precise temperature control and a single handle for flow adjustment.

  • Temperature Control: The thermostatic handle allows you to set your desired water temperature. Rotate the handle to increase or decrease the temperature. Most thermostatic mixers have a safety stop at 38°C (100°F) to prevent accidental scalding. To exceed this temperature, you typically need to press a button or override the safety stop while turning the handle further.
  • Flow Control: The single handle also controls the water flow. Rotate or lift/push the handle (depending on design) to turn the water on/off and adjust the flow intensity.
  • Hand Shower Operation: Direct the hand shower as needed for targeted rinsing.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your IMEX BTM039-5 MONZA Thermostatic Shower Kit.

  • Cleaning the Finish: Clean the chrome surfaces regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap or a non-abrasive cleaner specifically designed for chrome fixtures. Avoid using abrasive sponges, scouring pads, or harsh chemical cleaners (e.g., bleach, acid-based cleaners) as these can damage the finish.
  • Cleaning the Hand Shower Nozzles: Over time, limescale can build up on the hand shower nozzles, affecting spray patterns. Most modern hand showers have flexible silicone nozzles that can be cleaned by gently rubbing them with your finger or a soft brush to dislodge deposits. For stubborn limescale, a solution of white vinegar and water can be used, but ensure it does not come into prolonged contact with the chrome finish.
  • Thermostatic Cartridge: If you notice inconsistent water temperature, the thermostatic cartridge may require cleaning or replacement. This is a task best performed by a qualified plumber.
