  • Water Supply: Ensure the main water supply is turned off before beginning any installation or maintenance work.
  • Temperature Control: The thermostatic cartridge is designed to maintain a consistent water temperature. However, always test the water temperature before stepping into the shower to prevent scalding, especially for children or individuals with sensitive skin.
  • Cleaning: Use only mild, non-abrasive cleaners on chrome surfaces to prevent damage.

Setup and Installation

The IMEX GTA052 ASSEN shower faucet is designed for built-in installation. This requires careful planning and execution, typically involving recessing the main mixer body and associated plumbing within the wall. It is highly recommended that installation be performed by a qualified plumber to ensure compliance with local building codes and proper functionality.

  1. Prepare the Wall: Create the necessary recess in the wall for the 2-way brass body with its registration box. Ensure adequate space for plumbing connections and future access if required.
  2. Install Mixer Body: Securely mount the built-in mixer body within the wall recess, ensuring it is level and at the correct depth relative to the finished wall surface. Connect the hot and cold water supply lines to the designated inlets.
  3. Connect Outlets: Connect the two outlets from the mixer body to the shower head and the hand shower outlet/holder respectively. The brass wall outlet tube should be installed for the main shower head.
  4. Install Shower Head: Attach the stainless steel round shower head (Ø25 cm) to the wall outlet tube. Ensure a watertight seal.
  5. Install Hand Shower Components: Mount the hand shower holder with water outlet at a convenient height. Connect the PVC hose (1.5 m) to the outlet and the round hand shower.
  6. Final Assembly: Once plumbing connections are complete and tested for leaks, install the round escutcheons (Ø 80 mm) and the thermostatic handle and diverter handle onto their respective shafts.
  7. Test Functionality: Turn on the main water supply and test all functions, checking for leaks, proper water flow, and temperature control.

Operating Instructions

Your IMEX GTA052 ASSEN shower faucet features a thermostatic control for precise temperature management and a 2-way diverter to switch between the main shower head and the hand shower.

  1. Temperature Adjustment: Use the thermostatic handle (typically on one side) to set your desired water temperature. The thermostatic cartridge will automatically mix hot and cold water to maintain this temperature, even if water pressure fluctuates.
  2. Water Flow Control / Diverter: Use the other handle to turn the water on/off and to select the water outlet.
    • Rotate the handle to control the water flow rate.
    • Push or pull, or rotate the handle to switch between the main shower head and the hand shower. Refer to the markings on the escutcheon for specific positions.
  3. Average Flow Rate: The system provides an average flow rate of 20 liters per minute, ensuring a comfortable shower experience.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will help preserve the appearance and functionality of your IMEX GTA052 ASSEN shower faucet.

  • Cleaning Chrome Surfaces: Clean the chrome finish regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap or a non-abrasive cleaner specifically designed for chrome. Avoid using abrasive sponges, harsh chemicals, or acidic cleaners, as these can damage the finish. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
  • Thermostatic Cartridge (TURN CLEAN SYSTEM): The integrated TURN CLEAN SYSTEM thermostatic cartridge is self-cleaning, which helps prevent limescale buildup and ensures consistent temperature control. No special user maintenance is typically required for the cartridge itself, beyond regular use.
  • Anti-Limescale Shower Head: The stainless steel shower head features anti-limescale nozzles. Periodically rub the silicone nozzles to dislodge any mineral deposits. For more stubborn buildup, a mild descaling solution can be used, followed by thorough rinsing.
  • Hose and Hand Shower: Clean the PVC hose and hand shower with a soft cloth and mild soap. Check the hose periodically for any signs of wear or damage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your shower faucet, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Low Water Flow
  • Partially closed stopcock.
  • Clogged shower head nozzles.
  • Debris in the thermostatic cartridge or filters.
  • Ensure all stopcocks are fully open.
  • Clean the anti-limescale nozzles on the shower head.
  • If persistent, consult a plumber to inspect and clean the cartridge/filters.
Inconsistent Water Temperature
  • Fluctuations in hot/cold water supply pressure.
  • Thermostatic cartridge issue.
  • Ensure stable hot and cold water pressure.
  • The TURN CLEAN SYSTEM cartridge is designed to be self-cleaning; if issues persist, professional inspection may be needed.
Leaks from Connections
  • Loose connections.
  • Damaged seals or O-rings.
  • Turn off water supply and carefully check all connections. Tighten if loose.
  • If seals are damaged, they may need replacement by a qualified plumber.
