2. Installation Instructions
Follow these steps to install the AV-PF500 Pre-Filter into your compatible Airvana air purifier. Refer to your air purifier's main instruction manual for specific details on accessing the filter compartment.
- Power Off and Unplug: Before beginning, ensure your Airvana air purifier is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
- Access Filter Compartment: Open the filter compartment cover of your AV500APHTR or AV520APHTR unit. This usually involves removing a front or back panel.
- Remove Old Pre-Filter (if applicable): If a pre-filter is already installed, carefully remove it and dispose of it according to local regulations.
- Insert New Pre-Filter: Place the new AV-PF500 Pre-Filter into the designated slot or attach it to the main filter as instructed by your air purifier's manual. Ensure it lies flat and covers the intended area.

3. Operation and Function
Once installed, the AV-PF500 Pre-Filter operates continuously as part of your air purifier's filtration system. Its primary function is to capture larger airborne particles such as dust, pet dander, and pollen. This initial filtration step helps to protect the more delicate main filter, allowing it to perform more efficiently and extending its overall service life.
4. Maintenance and Replacement
Regular inspection and timely replacement of the pre-filter are essential for maintaining optimal air purification performance.
- Inspection: Periodically check the pre-filter for visible accumulation of dust and debris. The frequency of inspection may vary depending on air quality and usage.
- Replacement: Replace the AV-PF500 Pre-Filter when it appears heavily soiled or as recommended by your air purifier's main instruction manual. A heavily clogged pre-filter can reduce airflow and decrease the efficiency of the entire purification system.
- Disposal: Dispose of used pre-filters in regular household waste.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues after installing the pre-filter, consider the following:
- Reduced Airflow: Ensure the pre-filter is correctly seated and not obstructing the air intake. Check if the main filter also needs replacement.
- Filter Not Fitting: Verify that you have the correct AV-PF500 model for your Airvana AV500APHTR or AV520APHTR unit. Double-check the orientation during installation.
- Persistent Odors/Particles: While the pre-filter captures larger particles, it does not eliminate odors or microscopic particles. Ensure your main filter is functioning correctly and consider its replacement schedule.
