Maintenance and Filter Replacement

Filter System Overview

The AIRDOCTOR AD3500i SMART utilizes an advanced 3-stage filtration system for comprehensive air purification:

  1. Pre-Filter: Designed to capture larger contaminants such as dust, pet hair, and other visible particles, protecting the more advanced filters and extending their lifespan.
  2. Carbon/VOC Filter: Reduces toxic gases, odors, and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from sources like cooking, cleaning products, and paint off-gassing.
  3. UltraHEPA Filter: Proven to capture 99.99% of airborne particles down to 0.003 microns in size, which is 100 times smaller than the HEPA standard. This includes ultra-fine dust, pollen, mold spores, smoke, pet dander, bacteria, and viruses.

Replacing Filters

To maintain optimal performance, it is crucial to replace your AIRDOCTOR filters as needed, typically every 6-12 months, or when the filter change indicator light illuminates on the unit's control panel. Always use genuine AIRDOCTOR brand replacement filters to ensure tested performance standards.

The filter replacement process is straightforward:

  1. Turn off and unplug the air purifier.
  2. Gently open the front door of the unit. It is secured by magnets.
  3. The pre-filter, which is often visibly dirty with accumulated dust and debris, is attached to the carbon/VOC filter via Velcro. Carefully detach the pre-filter.
  4. Remove the carbon/VOC filter and the UltraHEPA filter by pulling them forward from their slots.
  5. Insert the new UltraHEPA filter first, ensuring it is properly seated.
  6. Next, insert the new carbon/VOC filter.
  7. Attach the new pre-filter to the carbon/VOC filter using the Velcro.
  8. Close the front door of the unit.
  9. Plug in the air purifier and press the power button to resume operation. To reset the filter change light, hold down the timer and ion buttons for 3 seconds.
