1. Setup

This section guides you through the initial setup of your Yamaha CD-C603 5-Disc CD Changer.

1.1 Unpacking and Contents

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all items are present:

1.2 Placement

Place the CD changer on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or moisture. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

1.3 Connections

Connect the CD changer to your audio system using the appropriate cables.

Analog Audio Connection: Use the supplied RCA audio cable to connect the L/R ANALOG AUDIO OUTPUT jacks on the CD changer's rear panel to the corresponding analog input jacks on your amplifier or receiver.
Digital Audio Connection (Optional): For digital audio output, connect either a coaxial digital cable to the COAXIAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT jack or an optical digital cable to the OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT jack on the CD changer's rear panel to the corresponding digital input on your amplifier or receiver.
Power Connection: Plug the power cord into an AC outlet.

2. Operating Instructions

Learn how to use your CD-C603 for optimal audio playback.

2.1 Loading Discs

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
Place up to five CDs onto the disc tray with the label side facing up.
To load additional discs while one is playing, use the PLAYXCHANGE feature by pressing the DISC SKIP button to rotate the carousel and access empty slots.
Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the tray.

2.2 CD Playback

Press the PLAY button to start playback.
Use the DISC SELECT buttons (1-5) on the front panel or remote to choose a specific disc.
Use the TRACK SKIP buttons to navigate between tracks.
Press PAUSE to temporarily stop playback and PLAY to resume.
Press STOP to end playback.
Repeat Play: Press the REPEAT button on the remote to repeat the current track, current disc, or all discs.
Random Play: Press the RANDOM button on the remote to play tracks in a random order.

2.3 USB Playback

The CD-C603 supports playback of music files (MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC up to 96kHz/24bit) from a USB storage device.

Insert a USB storage device into the USB port on the front panel.
Press the USB button to switch to USB input.
Use the FOLDER buttons to navigate through folders and the TRACK SKIP buttons to select files.
Press PLAY to start playback.

2.4 Pure Direct Mode

Activate PURE DIRECT mode to minimize interference by shutting down digital output and display during CD play, delivering a purer audio experience.

No sound	Check audio cable connections to your amplifier/receiver. Ensure the correct input is selected on your amplifier/receiver. Adjust volume levels.
Remote control not working	Check and replace batteries (2 AA). Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the unit's remote sensor. Point the remote directly at the unit.
USB device not recognized	Ensure the USB device is formatted correctly (FAT16/32). Check that the music files are in a supported format. Try a different USB device.
