3. Package Contents

Upon opening your Grimtron Biometric Gun Safe package, please ensure all the following items are present:

Note: 4 AAA batteries are required for operation and are not included in the package. Please prepare them before setup.

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment, typically on the underside or inside the safe door.
  2. Insert 4 new AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely. The LCD display should illuminate, indicating power.

4.2. Setting Date and Time

The LCD display shows the current date and time. To set it:

  1. Press the '1' button to enter time setting mode.
  2. Use buttons '2' and '6' to adjust the values (e.g., hour, minute, year, month, day).
  3. Press '1' again to confirm each setting and move to the next.

4.3. Registering Fingerprints

The safe can store multiple fingerprints (up to 20). To register a new fingerprint:

  1. With the safe open, locate the programming button (usually inside the safe). Press it once.
  2. Place the finger you wish to register firmly on the fingerprint scanner.
  3. Lift and place the same finger on the scanner four times, slightly adjusting the position each time to capture different angles of your print. The safe will beep or flash to confirm successful registration.
  4. Repeat for additional fingerprints.

4.4. Setting a PIN Code

You can set a PIN code between 3 and 8 digits.

  1. With the safe open, press the programming button twice.
  2. Enter your desired PIN code using the keypad (buttons 1-6).
  3. Press the '#' or 'Enter' button (often button '6' or the fingerprint sensor itself after inputting the code) to confirm.
  4. Re-enter the PIN code and confirm again to verify.

4.5. Mounting the Safe

The safe can be securely anchored to a surface for added security.

  1. Identify a suitable location (e.g., nightstand, car, shelf).
  2. Mark the positions for the mounting holes using the pre-drilled holes at the bottom of the safe as a template.
  3. Drill pilot holes if necessary.
  4. Secure the safe using the provided mounting hardware.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Opening with Fingerprint

  1. Place a registered finger firmly on the fingerprint scanner.
  2. The safe will unlock and open automatically if the fingerprint is recognized.

5.2. Opening with PIN Code

  1. Press any button on the keypad to activate the display.
  2. Enter your programmed PIN code.
  3. Press the '#' or 'Enter' button (or the fingerprint sensor) to confirm. The safe will unlock and open.

5.3. Opening with Emergency Key

In case of battery failure or forgotten codes, use the emergency key:

  1. Locate the keyhole, usually discreetly placed on the side or front panel.
  2. Insert the emergency key and turn it to unlock the safe.

5.4. Emergency USB Power

If the batteries are completely depleted, you can power the safe temporarily using a USB-C cable (not included).

  1. Connect a USB-C cable to the emergency USB port on the safe and to a power source (e.g., power bank, wall adapter).
  2. Once powered, you can use your registered fingerprint or PIN code to open the safe.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

6.2. Battery Replacement

The LCD display will show a low battery indicator when the batteries need to be replaced. Replace all 4 AAA batteries simultaneously to ensure consistent power. Do not mix old and new batteries.

6.3. Humidity Control

The LCD display monitors internal humidity. To protect firearms and other sensitive items from moisture, consider placing dehumidifier packets inside the safe, especially in humid environments. Replace packets as needed.

6.4. Functional Check

Periodically test all access methods (fingerprint, PIN, key) to ensure they are functioning correctly. This helps confirm the safe is ready for use when needed.
