4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is critical for the safe and efficient operation of your thermostat. Please follow these steps carefully.
4.1 Wiring Diagram
Refer to the wiring diagram below for correct electrical connections. Ensure all connections are secure and insulated.

4.2 Physical Installation
- Power Disconnection: Turn off the main power supply at the circuit breaker before beginning any installation work.
- Mounting: The thermostat is designed for concealed installation. The installation hole distance is 60mm. Note that this thermostat may not fit standard American electrical boxes without modification or an adapter plate.
- Wiring: Connect the power supply wires, heating load wires, and the floor sensor wires to the appropriate terminals as shown in Figure 3. Ensure proper gauge wires are used for the 16A load.
- Sensor Placement: Install the 3-meter floor temperature sensor in the floor, ideally within the heating mat/cable area, to accurately measure floor temperature.
- Secure Thermostat: Mount the thermostat securely into the wall box.
- Restore Power: Once all connections are secure and the thermostat is mounted, restore power at the circuit breaker.
5. Operating Instructions
The Baomain BM-J01-F thermostat is designed for straightforward manual operation.
- Power On: Ensure power is supplied to the thermostat.
- Set Temperature: Rotate the temperature dial on the front of the thermostat to your desired floor temperature. The temperature range is from 40°F to 104°F.
- Heating Indicator: A small LED light on the thermostat will illuminate when the heating system is actively engaged to reach or maintain the set temperature.
- Temperature Control: The thermostat will automatically turn the heating system on and off to maintain the set floor temperature within its accuracy range.
6. Maintenance
The Baomain BM-J01-F thermostat requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the thermostat's surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Annually, or if you suspect an issue, have a qualified electrician inspect the wiring connections for any signs of wear or loosening.
- There are no user-serviceable parts inside the thermostat.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Thermostat not powering on. | No power supply; incorrect wiring. | Check circuit breaker. Verify wiring connections (refer to Figure 3). |
| Heating not turning on. | Temperature set too low; faulty wiring; sensor issue. | Increase set temperature. Check wiring. Ensure sensor is correctly installed and functional. |
| Floor not reaching desired temperature. | Heating system capacity; insulation issues; sensor placement. | Ensure heating system is adequately sized for the area. Verify proper floor insulation. Check sensor placement for accurate readings. |
| Thermostat does not fit standard US electrical box. | Product designed for different mounting standards. | Custom fabrication or adapter plate may be required. Consult a professional for solutions. |
