It features a shell constructed from Kinetic Polymer Alloy (KPA), which incorporates aramid fibers for enhanced energy management. The helmet meets stringent safety standards, including ECE 22.06 and DOT FMVSS 218, and includes LS2's Advanced Rotational Energy Management (AREM) system.

2. Safety Information
Your safety is paramount. Always wear a helmet that fits correctly and is in good condition. This helmet is designed to absorb impact energy through partial destruction of the shell and liner. Any significant impact, even if no visible damage occurs, may compromise the helmet's protective capabilities. It is recommended to replace your helmet after any impact.
2.1 Safety Standards
The LS2 Rapid II helmet meets or exceeds the following safety standards:
- DOT FMVSS 218: United States Department of Transportation standard.
- ECE 22.06: European Economic Commission standard.
The helmet also incorporates LS2's proprietary Advanced Rotational Energy Management (AREM) system, designed to better manage rotational forces during an impact.

4. Setup and Fitting
4.1 Proper Helmet Fit
A properly fitting helmet is crucial for safety. The LS2 Rapid II is designed with an intermediate oval fit and utilizes three shell sizes to accommodate a range of head shapes. To determine your correct size, measure the circumference of your head at its largest point, approximately one inch above your eyebrows.
When trying on the helmet:
- The helmet should feel snug around your entire head, with no pressure points.
- Cheek pads should press firmly against your cheeks.
- With the chin strap fastened, try to rotate the helmet from side to side and front to back. Your skin should move with the helmet, not the helmet sliding independently.
- Ensure your field of vision is not obstructed.

4.2 Visor Installation and Adjustment
The Rapid II features a quick-change, tool-less visor system. To remove or install the visor:
- Open the visor fully to its highest position.
- Locate the release levers or buttons on each side of the visor mechanism.
- Press the release mechanism and gently pull the visor away from the helmet.
- To install, align the visor's pivot points with the helmet's mechanism and press firmly until it clicks into place on both sides. Ensure it operates smoothly before riding.

5. Operating the Helmet
5.1 Visor Operation
The visor can be easily opened and closed using the tab located at the center bottom edge. It features multiple detent positions to allow for varying levels of airflow or full closure. The visor is made from optically correct Class A polycarbonate for clear vision.
5.2 Ventilation System
The LS2 Rapid II is equipped with a ventilation system to enhance rider comfort. This typically includes:
- Chin Vent: Located on the front of the helmet, this vent can be opened or closed to direct airflow across the inside of the visor, helping to reduce fogging.
- Top Vents: Positioned on the crown of the helmet, these vents allow air to flow through internal channels, exhausting warm air from the rear.
- Rear Exhaust Vents: Located at the back of the helmet, these vents facilitate the exit of warm, moist air.
Adjust the vents as needed for optimal airflow and temperature regulation based on riding conditions.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your helmet.
6.1 Cleaning the Helmet Shell
Clean the helmet shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish and materials. Allow the helmet to air dry completely away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
6.2 Cleaning the Visor
The visor is scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. Clean it with a soft, clean cloth and lukewarm water. For stubborn dirt, use a specialized helmet visor cleaner. Do not use paper towels or abrasive materials, as these can scratch the surface. Ensure the visor is completely dry before closing or storing.
6.3 Removing and Cleaning Comfort Padding
The interior comfort padding is removable and washable. To remove:
- Gently detach the cheek pads and liner from their snap or hook-and-loop fasteners inside the helmet.
- Hand wash the padding in cold water with a mild soap or detergent.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before re-installing. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
To re-install, align the padding with the corresponding fasteners inside the helmet and press firmly until secured.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your LS2 Rapid II helmet.
7.1 Visor Fogging
- Cause: Temperature difference between inside and outside the helmet, high humidity.
- Solution: Open the chin vent to direct airflow onto the visor. Slightly crack open the visor to allow more air circulation. Consider applying an anti-fog treatment to the inside of the visor.
7.2 Helmet Feels Too Tight or Causes Pressure Points
- Cause: New padding may be initially stiff, or helmet size may be incorrect.
- Solution: New cheek pads often relax after a few rides. If discomfort persists after several hours of wear, re-evaluate your helmet size. A helmet should be snug but not cause painful pressure points.
7.3 Excessive Wind Noise
- Cause: Improper fit, open vents, or turbulence around the helmet.
- Solution: Ensure all vents are closed if noise is a concern. Verify the helmet fits snugly. Wind noise is inherent to motorcycle helmets; earplugs can be used for extended rides.
