Introduction

The LS2 Rapid II full face motorcycle helmet is an evolutionary update of our best selling Rapid. Rapid II uses three shells for an even better fit and all-day comfort. The shell is now made from our exclusive Kinetic Polymer Alloy, a material that blends microscopic levels of aramid fibers into a high-end polymer, allowing for amazing energy management. The Rapid II meets the stringent ECE 22.06 safety standard and includes LS2 proprietary Advanced Rotational Energy Management (AREM) system to better handle rotational forces. The adjustable, quick change, toolless shield is made from optically correct Class A polycarbonate. The comfort padding is removable so you can keep it as fresh as new. The helmet fastens using LS2’s popular DOT approved quick-release buckle system. Meets or exceeds DOT standards. Intermediate oval fit. DOT approved. Meets the FMVSS 218 Standard.

Setup

Proper Helmet Fitting

To ensure maximum safety and comfort, it is crucial to select and properly fit your helmet. The helmet should fit snugly around your head, with no excessive movement when you shake your head. The cheek pads should press firmly against your cheeks without causing discomfort. The LS2 Rapid II utilizes three shell sizes to provide a more precise and comfortable fit across various head sizes.

Visor Installation and Adjustment

The LS2 Rapid II features an adjustable, quick-change, toolless shield system. To remove or install the visor, locate the release mechanisms on both sides of the helmet near the visor pivots. Follow the specific instructions provided in the detailed manual for your helmet model to ensure correct and secure attachment. Always ensure the visor is securely locked in place before riding.

Operating

Wearing and Securing the Helmet

Place the helmet on your head, ensuring it sits level and comfortably. Fasten the chin strap using the DOT approved quick-release buckle system. Pull on the strap to ensure it is snug and cannot be pulled over your chin. The strap should be tight enough that the helmet does not move freely but not so tight as to cause discomfort or restrict breathing.

Visor Operation

The helmet's shield is made from optically correct Class A polycarbonate, providing clear vision. The visor can be opened and closed manually to adjust airflow and visibility. Ensure the visor is fully closed when riding at speed or in adverse weather conditions for optimal protection.

Ventilation System

The LS2 Rapid II helmet is equipped with a ventilation system designed to provide airflow and reduce heat buildup inside the helmet. Locate the intake vents on the front and top of the helmet, and exhaust vents at the rear. These vents can typically be opened or closed to adjust the amount of airflow according to riding conditions and personal preference.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Exterior

Clean the helmet's exterior shell with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish and materials. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, clean cloth.

Removable Comfort Padding

The interior comfort padding of the LS2 Rapid II is removable and washable. Carefully detach the padding components from the helmet shell. Hand wash the padding in cool water with mild soap, then air dry completely before re-installing. The 3D laser cutting ensures the cheek pads contour to your face for continued comfort after cleaning.

Visor Care

Clean the visor with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could scratch or damage the optically correct surface. Dry gently with a microfiber cloth. Store the helmet in its bag to protect the visor from scratches when not in use.

Troubleshooting

Fit Discomfort

If you experience discomfort after extended wear, ensure the helmet size is correct. New padding may feel tight initially but often conforms to your head shape after a few rides. If discomfort persists, re-evaluate the helmet size or consult with a professional for fitting advice.

Visor Fogging

The LS2 Rapid II visor is not inherently fog-resistant. In humid or cold conditions, fogging may occur. To mitigate this, consider using anti-fog treatments or inserts designed for helmet visors. Ensuring adequate ventilation by slightly opening the visor or using the helmet's ventilation system can also help reduce fogging.
