2. Product Overview
The OBSBOT Tail Air Smart Remote Controller is designed to provide intuitive and precise control over your OBSBOT Tail Air and Tail 2 devices. It features a range of buttons and a joystick for various functions, including PTZ control, tracking, and custom shortcuts.

2.1 Component Identification
- Device ON/OFF Button: Powers the remote controller on or off.
- Multi-screen Mode Button: Toggles between different display modes.
- Status Indicator: Displays the current status of the remote controller (e.g., power, connection).
- USB-C Port: Used for charging the remote controller.
- Focus / Camera Button: Controls camera focus or switches camera modes.
- Record Button: Initiates or stops video recording.
- Gimbal Control Joystick: Provides precise pan and tilt control for the connected camera's gimbal.

3. Setup
3.1 Charging the Remote Controller
Before initial use, ensure the remote controller is fully charged. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the remote controller and a compatible USB power adapter (not included).
3.2 Powering On/Off
- To power on: Press and hold the Device ON/OFF Button until the status indicator lights up.
- To power off: Press and hold the Device ON/OFF Button until the status indicator turns off.
3.3 Pairing with OBSBOT Tail Air/Tail 2 Devices
The remote controller can connect wirelessly via Bluetooth to up to three OBSBOT Tail Air or Tail 2 devices.
- Ensure your OBSBOT Tail Air/Tail 2 device is powered on and in pairing mode. Refer to your camera's manual for specific pairing instructions.
- On the remote controller, press one of the Select Camera Buttons (1, 2, or 3) to choose a slot for the new connection.
- Follow the on-screen prompts on your OBSBOT device or the remote controller's status indicator to complete the pairing process.
- Once paired, the remote controller will automatically connect to the selected camera when both devices are powered on and within range.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 General Control

After successfully pairing, you can control your OBSBOT Tail Air/Tail 2 device using the remote controller's various functions.
4.2 Precise PTZ Control

- Gimbal Control Joystick: Use the central joystick to pan (left/right) and tilt (up/down) the camera's gimbal.
- Wrist Movements: The remote controller incorporates a gyroscope. By moving your wrist, the device can sense motion and translate it into corresponding pan and tilt reactions of the camera's gimbal. This offers an alternative, intuitive control method.
4.3 Zoom Function
- Press the 'T' side of the Zoom Button to zoom in.
- Press the 'W' side of the Zoom Button to zoom out.
4.4 Laser Close-up
- Double-press the Laser Close-up Button.
- The connected Tail Air camera will then automatically follow and zoom in on the area where your laser signal points.
4.5 Customizable Button

- The Custom Button can be programmed to activate a specific feature of your choice.
- To customize, access the settings within the OBSBOT app or your connected camera's interface.
- Once customized, a single press of this button will immediately launch the assigned feature.
4.6 Tracking Functions
- Press the Human Tracking Button to enable intelligent tracking of human subjects.
- Press the Animal Tracking Button to enable intelligent tracking of animal subjects.
4.7 Preset Positions
- Use buttons P1, P2, and P3 to recall pre-saved camera positions.
- These positions can be configured and saved via the OBSBOT app or camera settings.
5. Maintenance
- Keep the remote controller dry and clean. Avoid exposure to liquids.
- Clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Avoid dropping or subjecting the remote controller to strong impacts.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Remote Controller Not Responding
- Check if the remote controller is powered on.
- Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a power source using the USB-C cable.
- Verify that the remote controller is paired and connected to the correct OBSBOT Tail Air/Tail 2 device.
- Restart both the remote controller and the OBSBOT camera.
6.2 Connection Issues
- Ensure both devices are within Bluetooth range (typically up to 10 meters without obstructions).
