3. Operating the Watch

3.1 Basic Timekeeping

Your NIXON 51-30 Chrono A1392 watch displays time using analog hour, minute, and second hands. The Miyota OS20 Japanese quartz movement ensures accurate timekeeping.

3.2 Chronograph Function

The watch is equipped with a 6-hand chronograph, including 24hr and second timer subdials. The pushers are located at the 8 and 10 o'clock positions (relative to the 9 o'clock crown).

  1. Start/Stop: Press the top pusher (at 10 o'clock) to start the chronograph. Press it again to stop.
  2. Reset: While the chronograph is stopped, press the bottom pusher (at 8 o'clock) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.

3.3 Uni-directional Rotating Bezel

The bezel rotates in one direction and can be used as an analog countdown timer. Align the triangle marker on the bezel with the minute hand at the desired start time. The minute hand will then indicate the elapsed time against the bezel markings.

3.4 Water Resistance

The NIXON 51-30 Chrono A1392 is water resistant to 300 meters (30 ATM). This makes it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before exposing the watch to water. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For stainless steel parts, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

4.2 Water Resistance Care

Regularly check that the crown is fully pushed in to maintain water resistance. After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly. Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes, such as going from a hot shower directly into cold water, as this can compromise seals.

4.3 Leather Band Care

Leather bands are susceptible to wear and damage from moisture, sweat, and direct sunlight. To prolong the life of your leather band:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water.
  • Clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, then air dry completely.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or extreme heat, which can cause drying and cracking.

4.4 Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by a product-specific battery. When the battery runs low, the watch may stop or the second hand may skip. Battery replacement should be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your NIXON 51-30 Chrono A1392 watch, refer to the following common solutions:

5.1 Watch Not Running

  • Check Crown: Ensure the crown is fully pushed into position 0.
  • Battery: If the watch has stopped completely, the battery may need replacement. Contact a professional watch service.

5.2 Chronograph Hands Not Resetting to Zero

If the chronograph hands do not return to their zero positions after pressing the reset pusher, a manual adjustment may be required. Consult a professional watch technician for this procedure.

5.3 Water Intrusion

If moisture or condensation appears inside the watch crystal, immediately take the watch to a qualified service center. Do not attempt to open the watch yourself, as this will void the warranty and may cause further damage.
