1. Safety Instructions
Please read all instructions carefully before using the Jack & Rose Portable Garment Steamer. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Electrical Safety:
- Ensure the voltage of your power outlet matches the product's dual voltage range (100-240V). The steamer automatically adapts to the local voltage.
- Do not immerse the steamer, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Always unplug the steamer from the power outlet when filling or emptying the water tank, and when not in use.
- Do not operate the steamer with a damaged cord or plug, or if the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- Steam and Heat Safety:
- The ceramic heating plate and steam nozzle become very hot during use. Avoid direct contact with skin.
- Always direct steam away from yourself and others.
- Do not steam clothes while wearing them.
- Allow the steamer to cool completely before storing.
- Water Tank:
- Use distilled or demineralized water to prevent mineral buildup and extend the life of the steamer. Tap water may be used but could lead to mineral deposits over time.
- Do not overfill the water tank.
- Do not add perfumes, vinegar, starch, or other chemical products to the water tank, as this may damage the appliance or cause spitting.
- General Precautions:
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Use the steamer on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Do not leave the steamer unattended while it is plugged in or operating.

- After filling the water tank and plugging in the steamer, press the Power button. The LED display will illuminate.
- The steamer will begin to heat up. This process takes approximately 15 seconds. The indicator light may flash or change color to indicate heating is in progress.
- Once heated, the steamer is ready for use.
4.2. Selecting Steaming Modes
The steamer features three distinct modes for various garment care needs:

Figure 4.1: The steamer's three modes (Low, High, Dry) are illustrated with examples of suitable fabrics like silk, cotton, polyester, lace, linen, and wool.
- Low Steam Mode: Ideal for delicate fabrics such as silk, lace, and synthetics. Provides a gentle steam flow.
- High Steam Mode: Suitable for heavier fabrics like cotton, linen, and denim. Delivers a powerful steam output (22-24 g/min).
- Dry Ironing Mode: For pressing collars, cuffs, and achieving crisp finishes without steam. The ceramic plate heats up to 120°C.
Press the Mode button repeatedly to cycle through these options. The LED display will indicate the currently selected mode.
4.3. Steaming Techniques
- Vertical Steaming: Hang the garment on a hanger. Hold the steamer upright and gently press the ceramic plate against the fabric, moving it slowly downwards.
- Horizontal Ironing: For more stubborn wrinkles or for precise pressing, place the garment on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Use the steamer like a traditional iron, applying gentle pressure.
- Fabric Compatibility: The steamer is versatile and can be used on a wide range of fabrics including silk, cotton, denim, linen, wool, and polyester. Always test on an inconspicuous area first.
4.4. Ceramic Heating Plate
The steamer features a 10-square-inch ceramic heating plate, designed for smooth gliding and efficient heat distribution. This advanced plate ensures gentle contact with fabrics while effectively removing wrinkles.

Figure 4.2: A visual comparison highlighting the benefits of the ceramic heating plate over a simpler metal panel, emphasizing its larger surface area and faster heat-up time.
5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your steamer.
- Emptying the Water Tank: After each use, ensure the steamer is unplugged and cooled down. Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water. This prevents mineral buildup and bacterial growth.
- Cleaning the Ceramic Plate:
- With the steamer unplugged and completely cool, wipe the ceramic heating plate with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can damage the surface.
- For stubborn residue, a mild detergent can be used, but ensure it is thoroughly wiped off.
- Descaling (if necessary): If you notice reduced steam output or white mineral deposits, descaling may be required.
- Mix a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% distilled water.
- Fill the water tank with this solution.
- Plug in the steamer and allow it to heat up.
- Steam the solution until the tank is empty (do this in a well-ventilated area, away from fabrics).
- Repeat the process with plain distilled water to rinse out any vinegar residue.
- Storage: Ensure the steamer is completely cool and dry before storing. Store it in a cool, dry place, preferably in its original packaging or the provided storage bag, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
