4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Filling the Water Tank

Figure 4.1: Close-up of the iron's water tank and spray function button.
This image focuses on the top part of the iron, showing the transparent water tank with a capacity of 300 ml, and the red spray function button. It illustrates where water is added and the location of the spray control.
- Ensure the iron is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Set the steam control slider to the "Dry" position.
- Open the water fill inlet cover.
- Using a measuring cup, carefully pour distilled or demineralized water into the tank up to the "MAX" fill line. The tank capacity is approximately 300 ml.
- Close the water fill inlet cover securely.
4.2 Temperature Setting
- Refer to the fabric care label on your garment for the recommended ironing temperature.
- Turn the temperature dial to the appropriate setting (e.g., synthetic, silk, wool, cotton, linen).
- The indicator light will illuminate while the iron is heating and turn off once the desired temperature is reached.
- Always start with lower temperatures for delicate fabrics and gradually increase for heavier materials.
4.3 Dry Ironing
For dry ironing, ensure the water tank is empty or the steam control slider is set to the "Dry" position.
- Set the desired temperature using the temperature dial.
- Wait for the indicator light to turn off, indicating the iron is ready.
- Iron the fabric without pressing the steam buttons.
4.4 Steam Ironing
Steam ironing is ideal for most fabrics, especially cotton and linen, to effectively remove wrinkles.

Figure 4.2: The iron emitting continuous steam during use.
This image captures the iron in motion, releasing a steady stream of steam from its soleplate onto a striped fabric. It visually demonstrates the continuous steam function, which provides 25 g/min of steam.

Figure 4.3: The iron delivering a powerful steam shot.
This image shows the iron actively releasing a strong burst of steam, illustrating the 100 g/min steam shot function. The steam is visible rising from the soleplate as the iron is used on fabric.
- Ensure the water tank is filled (Section 4.1).
- Set the temperature dial to a steam-compatible setting (usually cotton, linen, or max).
- Once the indicator light turns off, set the steam control slider to the desired steam level (Min or Max). The iron provides 25 g/min of continuous steam.
- For stubborn wrinkles, press the Steam Shot Button to release a powerful burst of 100 g/min steam. Wait a few seconds between bursts to allow the steam to regenerate.
4.5 Spray Function
The spray function helps to dampen fabrics, making it easier to remove creases.
- Ensure the water tank is filled.
- Point the spray nozzle towards the fabric.
- Press the Spray Button to release a fine mist of water.
4.6 Vertical Steaming
The vertical steam function is useful for removing wrinkles from hanging garments, curtains, or refreshing clothes.

Figure 4.4: The iron being used for vertical steaming on a hanging garment.
This image shows the iron held upright, demonstrating its vertical steam capability. Steam is visibly emanating from the soleplate, indicating its use for refreshing hanging clothes or drapes without an ironing board.
- Hang the garment on a hanger.
- Fill the water tank and set the temperature to a high steam setting (e.g., cotton or linen).
- Hold the iron vertically, a few centimeters away from the fabric.
- Press the Steam Shot Button repeatedly to release bursts of steam onto the garment.
- Do not allow the hot soleplate to touch the fabric directly during vertical steaming.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Solac steam iron.
5.1 Anti-Calc System

Figure 5.1: Close-up of the iron's ceramic soleplate with anti-lime function indicator.
This image highlights the underside of the iron, showcasing its ceramic soleplate designed for smooth gliding. It also points out the integrated anti-lime (anti-calc) function, which helps prevent mineral buildup and prolongs the iron's lifespan.
The iron is equipped with an integrated anti-calc system that filters water and prevents limescale buildup, extending the appliance's lifespan. This system requires no special maintenance from the user, but using distilled or demineralized water is highly recommended.
5.2 Anti-Drip System
The anti-drip system prevents water from dripping onto your garments when ironing at low temperatures. If you notice water spots, ensure the iron has reached the correct temperature for steam ironing.
5.3 Self-Cleaning Function
To maintain optimal steam performance and prevent mineral buildup in the steam vents, perform the self-cleaning function regularly (e.g., once a month or as needed).

Figure 5.2: The iron positioned for self-cleaning.
This image shows the iron resting on its heel, indicating a common position for performing maintenance tasks like self-cleaning. The soleplate is visible, suggesting the process involves cleaning the steam vents.
- Fill the water tank to the "MAX" line with distilled water.
- Set the steam control slider to "Dry" and the temperature dial to maximum.
- Plug in the iron and wait for the indicator light to turn off.
- Unplug the iron.
- Hold the iron horizontally over a sink.
- Press and hold the self-clean button (if available, otherwise use the steam shot button repeatedly) until all the water has drained from the tank, carrying out impurities.
- Move the iron back and forth to help dislodge scale.
- Once empty, plug the iron back in and let it heat up to dry the soleplate.
- Unplug and store once cooled.
5.4 Cleaning the Soleplate
- Allow the iron to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive liquid cleaner.
- Do not use abrasive scourers or chemical cleaners as they can damage the ceramic coating.
- For stubborn marks, a specialized iron soleplate cleaner can be used following its instructions.
5.5 Storage
- Ensure the iron is unplugged and completely cool.
- Empty any remaining water from the tank.
- Wrap the power cord neatly around the cord wrap area (if available) or secure it with a tie.
- Store the iron upright on its heel in a safe, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your iron, refer to the table below for common problems and solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Iron does not heat up. | Not plugged in; power outlet faulty; temperature dial set to MIN/OFF. | Check power connection; try another outlet; set temperature dial to desired heat. |
| No steam or insufficient steam. | Water tank empty; temperature too low for steam; steam control set to DRY; steam vents clogged. | Fill water tank; set temperature to steam-compatible setting; adjust steam control; perform self-cleaning. |
| Water drips from soleplate. | Temperature too low for steam (anti-drip system active); overfilled water tank; iron not hot enough. | Increase temperature; do not overfill; wait for indicator light to turn off before steaming. |
| White flakes coming from soleplate. | Limescale buildup. | Perform self-cleaning function; use distilled or demineralized water. |
| Soleplate is dirty. | Residue from fabrics or starch. | Clean the soleplate as described in Section 5.4. |
