3. Setup and Installation

Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials. Check the appliance for any signs of damage. If damaged, do not connect it to the power supply and contact your retailer.

Placement

  • Place the freezer on a firm, level surface. Use the adjustable feet to ensure stability and proper leveling.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance. Leave sufficient space (at least 10 cm) at the back and sides for air circulation.
  • Avoid placing the freezer in direct sunlight or near heat sources such as ovens, radiators, or cookers, as this will increase energy consumption.
  • Do not install the appliance in a humid environment or where it may be exposed to water.

Electrical Connection

  • Before plugging in, ensure the voltage and frequency indicated on the rating plate (located on the back of the appliance) match your household power supply (230 Volts).
  • Connect the appliance to a properly earthed socket. Do not use extension cords or multiple sockets.
  • Allow the freezer to stand upright for at least 4 hours before plugging it in. This allows the refrigerant fluid to settle.

4. Operating Instructions

Initial Operation

After connecting the appliance to the power supply, the internal light (if applicable) will illuminate. The compressor will start operating. Allow the freezer to run empty for at least 2-3 hours before loading it with food, to ensure it reaches the correct operating temperature.

Temperature Control

The temperature inside the freezer is controlled by a thermostat dial, usually located inside the appliance. Turn the dial to adjust the temperature setting. Higher numbers typically indicate colder temperatures. For optimal food preservation, a setting between '1' and '3' is usually sufficient. Adjust as needed based on ambient temperature and food load.

Food Storage Guidelines

  • Only freeze fresh, undamaged food.
  • Wrap food tightly in freezer-safe packaging to prevent freezer burn and odor transfer.
  • Do not place hot food directly into the freezer; allow it to cool down first.
  • Avoid overloading the freezer. Leave space for air circulation.
  • Do not open the freezer door unnecessarily to maintain stable internal temperature.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular Cleaning

  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Clean the interior and exterior surfaces with a soft cloth and a mild detergent solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Wipe dry thoroughly after cleaning.
  • Clean the door seals regularly to ensure a tight seal and prevent ice buildup.

Defrosting

Over time, frost will accumulate on the interior surfaces. When the frost layer reaches about 5 mm thickness, the freezer should be defrosted. This improves efficiency and performance.

  1. Unplug the freezer from the power outlet.
  2. Remove all food items and store them in a cool place or another freezer.
  3. Leave the freezer door open to allow the frost to melt naturally. Place towels or a shallow tray at the bottom to collect melting water.
  4. Do not use sharp objects or heating devices to remove frost, as this can damage the appliance.
  5. Once defrosted, clean and dry the interior thoroughly before plugging the freezer back in and returning food.
