MOSHAY Adult Bicycle Stabilizer Training Wheels (24-29 Inch) Instruction Manual

Model: frghny

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing MOSHAY Adult Bicycle Stabilizer Training Wheels. This product is designed to provide additional stability for adult cyclists learning to balance or those requiring assistance due to physical impairments. These adjustable training wheels are compatible with most 24 to 29-inch bicycles, including 700c models. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure safe and correct operation.

2. Safety Information

  • Weight Limit: The maximum supported rider weight is 120 kg (250 lbs). Do not exceed this limit.
  • Professional Installation: Professional installation by an independent bike dealer is recommended to ensure proper fit and safety.
  • Regular Checks: Before each ride, ensure all bolts, nuts, and connections are securely tightened. Inspect the training wheels and tires for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Road Conditions: While designed for durability, exercise caution on uneven terrain.
  • Balance Adjustment: The training wheels are intended to assist with balance. Ensure they are adjusted so that the bicycle's main rear wheel and the training wheels do not all touch the ground simultaneously. This allows for slight lean and promotes balance development.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:

  • 2 x Training Wheels (with 10-inch inflatable tube tires)
  • Mounting Brackets and Hardware (U-bolts, nuts, washers, etc.)

Note: A correct size spanner (not supplied) will be required for installation.

5. Compatibility

These training wheels are designed for universal fit on most bicycles within the specified wheel size range. However, certain bicycle types and frame dimensions are not compatible:

  • Not compatible with E-bikes.
  • Not compatible with dual suspension bicycles.
  • Not compatible if the bicycle has a safety chain.
  • Not compatible if the upper back of the frame is wider than 26 millimeters.
  • Not compatible if the lower back of the frame is wider than 30 millimeters.
  • Works best on diamond-shaped bike frames with round tubing (not square tubing).

The training wheels are designed to work with bikes both with and without suspension, provided they meet the other compatibility criteria.

6. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation:

  1. Prepare the Bicycle: Ensure your bicycle is stable, preferably on a stand or held upright. If your bicycle has a chain guard, its removal may be recommended for proper installation.
  2. Attach Brackets: The training wheels mount to the bicycle frame, not the axle. Position the mounting brackets on the rear frame of the bicycle. Use the provided plastic-coated U-bolts to secure the brackets, protecting the bike frame from damage.
  3. Install Training Wheels: Attach the training wheels to the mounting brackets using the provided hardware. Ensure all connections are firm but do not overtighten initially.
  4. Adjust Height: Adjust the height of the training wheels. The goal is for the bicycle's main rear wheel to be slightly off the ground when the rider is seated, allowing for a small amount of lean before the training wheels make contact. This promotes balance development. Ensure that all three wheels (bicycle's rear wheel and both training wheels) do not touch the ground simultaneously.
  5. Tighten All Fasteners: Once the desired height and alignment are achieved, securely tighten all nuts and bolts using a suitable spanner. Double-check all connections for tightness.

7. Operating Instructions

Once installed and adjusted, the training wheels provide a stable platform for learning or regaining cycling balance.

  • Initial Rides: Begin riding in a safe, open area away from traffic. Practice starting, stopping, and gentle turns.
  • Balance Development: The slight gap between the main rear wheel and the training wheels encourages the rider to find their balance. The training wheels will only engage when the bicycle leans too far.
  • Maneuverability: Be aware that the added width of the training wheels may affect maneuverability, especially in narrow spaces. The design ensures each side is under 10 inches long, allowing passage through standard doorways.

8. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your training wheels:

  • Fastener Check: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and mounting hardware for tightness. Retighten as necessary.
  • Tire Pressure: Maintain appropriate air pressure in the training wheel tires as indicated on the tire sidewall.
  • Inspection: Inspect the training wheels, brackets, and tires for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Replace any damaged components immediately.
  • Cleaning: Clean the training wheels with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Difficulty Steering or Pulling to One Side:
If the bicycle feels difficult to steer or pulls to one side, check the following:
    • Ensure both training wheels are adjusted to the same height relative to the ground.
    • Verify that the mounting brackets are aligned correctly and securely fastened to the bicycle frame.
    • Confirm that the bicycle's main rear wheel and the training wheels are not all touching the ground simultaneously. Adjust the training wheels slightly higher if needed.
  • Training Wheels Not Providing Enough Stability:
If the training wheels do not provide sufficient stability, ensure they are adjusted to the correct height. They should be close enough to the ground to engage quickly when the bike leans, but not constantly touching.
  • Loose Components:
If any part feels loose during operation, immediately stop riding and inspect all fasteners. Tighten any loose bolts or nuts.

10. Warranty and Support

Warranty: MOSHAY provides a lifetime warranty for the training wheels, excluding tires and tubes. This warranty covers manufacturing defects and material failures under normal use.
