Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly set up your Acoustech SWA8 Powered Subwoofer:

  1. Placement: Position the subwoofer in a corner of your room or along a wall for optimal bass response. Experiment with different locations to find the best sound for your listening environment.
  2. Connection: Connect the subwoofer to your audio receiver or amplifier using an RCA cable. Use the "SUB IN" port on the subwoofer's rear panel (refer to Figure 2).
  3. Power: Plug the power supply into the subwoofer's power input and then into a standard electrical outlet.
  4. Initial Settings:
    • Set the Volume knob to the minimum position ("MIN").
    • Set the Crossover Frequency knob to approximately 80Hz-100Hz as a starting point. This setting determines the highest frequency the subwoofer will reproduce.
    • Ensure the Power switch is set to "AUTO" for automatic power on/off with signal detection, or "ON" for continuous operation.

Operating Instructions

Once connected, follow these guidelines for optimal performance:

  1. Power On: If the power switch is set to "AUTO", the subwoofer will automatically turn on when it detects an audio signal from your receiver. If set to "ON", it will remain powered.
  2. Volume Adjustment: Gradually increase the Volume knob on the subwoofer until the bass output blends seamlessly with your main speakers. Avoid setting the volume too high, which can lead to distorted sound.
  3. Crossover Frequency Adjustment: Adjust the Crossover Frequency knob to fine-tune the blend between your subwoofer and main speakers.
    • For smaller main speakers, a higher crossover frequency (e.g., 100Hz-120Hz) may be appropriate.
    • For larger main speakers, a lower crossover frequency (e.g., 60Hz-80Hz) is often preferred.
  4. Listening Test: Play various types of audio content (music, movies) to assess the sound balance. Adjust volume and crossover as needed for your preferred sound.

  • Clean the cabinet with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
