Setup Instructions

The CROWN SHADES canopy features a patented CenterLok system for quick and easy setup. It is recommended that two people set up the canopy, though one person can manage.

Step-by-Step Assembly:

  1. Expand the Frame: Place the folded frame in the desired location. With a partner, grasp two opposing outer legs and slowly pull the frame outwards until it is partially open.
  2. Three step diagram for setting up the canopy tent

  3. Attach the Canopy Top: Drape the canopy fabric over the partially opened frame. Secure the corners of the fabric to the frame.
  4. Engage CenterLok: From underneath the canopy, push up on the patented CenterLok hub located at the center of the frame until it clicks into place. This locks the truss system and fully extends the canopy top.
  5. Close-up of the CenterLok mechanism for one-person assembly

  6. Adjust Leg Height: Press the red push-button on each leg and extend the legs to your desired height. There are three adjustable height levels. Ensure all legs are set to the same height for stability.
  7. Adjustable legs and fast clip features of the canopy tent

  8. Secure the Canopy: Use the provided stakes to anchor the canopy legs to the ground. For added stability, especially in breezy conditions, attach the guy ropes to the canopy corners and stake them into the ground. Fill the sandbags with sand and place them around the base of the legs for additional weight.

Operating Your Canopy

Sun and Weather Protection:

The canopy top is made from rugged 150D silver-coated fabric, offering UPF 50+ UV protection and water repellency. It is also CPAI-84 rated for flame resistance. The vented top design ensures airflow and temperature control, reducing heat buildup underneath the canopy.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the canopy fabric with mild soap and water. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as this may damage the fabric's protective coating. Allow the fabric to dry completely before storing to prevent mildew.
  • Frame Care: Inspect the steel frame periodically for any signs of corrosion or damage. Clean any dirt or debris from the frame.
  • Storage: Always store the canopy in its cover bag in a dry, cool place when not in use. Ensure the canopy is completely dry before packing to prevent mold and mildew.
  • Repair Patch: Use the provided repair patch for minor tears in the canopy fabric. Follow the instructions included with the patch for proper application.

Troubleshooting

  • Difficulty Opening/Closing: Ensure all locking mechanisms are disengaged before attempting to close the canopy. If the frame is stiff, gently wiggle the joints while applying pressure. Do not force the frame.
  • Water Pooling on Top: The canopy is designed with a higher roof for better water runoff. However, in heavy rain, water may still accumulate. The fast clips help prevent water pooling. Ensure the canopy is taut and properly angled to facilitate drainage.
  • Canopy Instability: Always use the provided stakes and guy ropes to secure the canopy. In windy conditions, consider lowering the canopy height and adding sandbags to the legs for increased stability. Never leave the canopy unattended in strong winds.
