Setup Guide

1. Download the Geeni App

Download the Geeni app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Register for a new account or log in to an existing one.

2. Connect the Surge Protector

Plug the Geeni Surge Ultra into a standard wall outlet. Ensure the power switch on the side of the surge protector is in the 'ON' position. The Wi-Fi indicator light should begin to blink rapidly, indicating it's ready for pairing.

3. Pair with Geeni App

  1. Open the Geeni app.
  2. Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a new device.
  3. Select "Power Strip" or the appropriate device type from the list.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the surge protector to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. You may need to confirm that the indicator light is blinking rapidly.
  5. Once connected, you can name your device and individual smart outlets.

Operating Instructions

Using the Geeni App

Once paired, you can control your Geeni Surge Ultra from anywhere using the Geeni app.

  • Individual Outlet Control: Tap on the device in the app to see all 8 outlets. The 6 smart outlets can be turned ON or OFF individually. The 2 always-on outlets remain powered as long as the surge protector is plugged in and its main switch is ON.
  • Scheduling: Set schedules for your smart outlets to automatically turn ON or OFF at specific times or days. This is useful for lights, coffee makers, or other appliances.
  • Timer Mode: Use the timer function to automatically turn off an outlet after a set duration.

Voice Control

The Geeni Surge Ultra is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Link your Geeni account to your voice assistant app to enable voice commands.

  • For Amazon Alexa: Say, "Alexa, turn on the lamp" (if your outlet is named "lamp").
  • For Google Assistant: Say, "Hey Google, turn off the coffee maker" (if your outlet is named "coffee maker").

Manual Power Switch

The surge protector includes a physical ON/OFF switch on its side. This switch controls the power to all outlets. In case of a power surge, the switch may trip to the 'OFF' position to protect connected devices. To reset, simply toggle the switch back to 'ON'.

Safety and Maintenance

Safety Precautions

  • Do not exceed the maximum load current of 15 Amps or maximum power of 1875 Watts.
  • This device is for indoor use only. Do not expose to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the device.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure the surge protector is properly grounded.

Cleaning

Unplug the surge protector before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

Troubleshooting

  • Device not connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The Geeni Surge Ultra does not support 5GHz networks.
    • Check that the Wi-Fi indicator light is blinking rapidly. If not, press and hold the Wi-Fi button (usually near the always-on outlets) for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode.
    • Verify your Wi-Fi password is correct.
    • Move the surge protector closer to your Wi-Fi router.
  • Voice control not working:
    • Ensure your Geeni account is correctly linked to your Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant app.
    • Check the names of your outlets in the Geeni app and use those exact names in your voice commands.
    • Verify your voice assistant device is connected to the internet.
  • Outlets not responding:
    • Check the main ON/OFF switch on the side of the surge protector. Ensure it is in the 'ON' position.
    • Confirm the device is still connected to Wi-Fi (check the indicator light).
    • Restart the Geeni app or the surge protector itself by unplugging and replugging it.
