Setup

Battery Installation

The Westcott iPoint® GEM Battery Pencil Sharpener requires 4 AA batteries (not included).

Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the sharpener.
Open the battery compartment cover.
Insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Operating Instructions

Sharpening a Pencil

Ensure batteries are correctly installed.
Hold the sharpener firmly on a flat surface. The sharpener has rubber grippers on the bottom for stability.
Insert a standard-sized pencil into the sharpening hole at the top of the unit.
Apply gentle downward pressure. The sharpener will automatically begin sharpening.
Remove the pencil once it reaches the desired sharpness. The sharpener is designed to create a fine point. Avoid over-sharpening to prevent lead breakage.

Emptying Shavings Reservoir

The EZ-view shavings reservoir allows you to monitor the fill level.

To empty, gently twist the top section of the sharpener counter-clockwise to detach it from the base.
Carefully empty the pencil shavings into a waste bin.
Realign the top section with the base and twist clockwise until it clicks securely into place.

Maintenance

Cleaning: Regularly empty the shavings reservoir to prevent clogging. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the sharpener in water.

Troubleshooting
