Installation Guide

The SURFOU Doorbell Chime system is designed for easy plug-and-play installation. The receiver plugs directly into a standard wall outlet, and the sensors can be mounted using either double-sided adhesive tape or screws.

1. Receiver Setup

Simply plug the receiver into any standard wall outlet. The LED number display on the receiver will light up, indicating it is powered on and ready for use.

2. Sensor Installation

The sensors consist of two parts: the main transmitter unit and a smaller magnetic strip. These should be installed on a door, window, or drawer frame so that they are aligned and within 1cm of each other when the door/window is closed.

You have two options for mounting the sensors:

  • Using Double-Sided Adhesive Tape: Clean the surface where you intend to mount the sensors. Peel off the protective backing from the double-sided tape and firmly press the sensor parts onto the desired location. Ensure the two parts are aligned and close when the door/window is closed.
  • Using Screws: For a more permanent installation, use the provided screws and mini screwdriver. Mark the screw holes on the mounting surface, drill pilot holes if necessary, and then secure the sensor parts with the screws.

Operating Instructions

Pairing Transmitter and Receiver

The sensors (transmitters) and receiver are pre-paired from the factory. If you need to re-pair them or pair additional sensors, follow these steps:

  1. Step 1: Select Ringtone: On the receiver, press the Forward Button (up arrow) or Backward Button (down arrow) to select your desired ringtone. The receiver will play the selected tune.
  2. Step 2: Enter Pairing Mode: Long press the Volume Button (middle button) on the receiver for 5-8 seconds until you hear a "ding" sound and the LED display flashes. This indicates the receiver is in learning mode.
  3. Step 3: Select Sensor Number: While the receiver is in learning mode, short press the Forward Button or Backward Button to select a corresponding number (1-9) for the sensor you are pairing. This number will be displayed on the receiver.
  4. Step 4: Trigger Sensor: Separate the two parts of the door magnet sensor by more than 1cm. The transmitter's LED will flash red, and the receiver will make two "ding" sounds, indicating successful pairing.

Note: The learning mode typically lasts about 8 seconds. If pairing is not completed within this time, repeat steps 2-4.

Clearing and Resetting Paired Devices

To clear all previously paired transmitters and reset the receiver, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Backward Button (down arrow) on the receiver for approximately 5 seconds.
  2. Continue holding until you hear a "ding" sound from the receiver, accompanied by the LED light flashing. This indicates that the set ringtone and all paired transmitters/receivers have been cleared.

Adjusting Volume

The receiver offers 5 levels of adjustable volume, ranging from 0dB (mute) to 110dB. To adjust the volume, short press the Volume Button (middle button) on the receiver. Each press will cycle through the available volume levels.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement (Sensors)

The sensors are powered by CR2450 3V button batteries, which have an ultra-long standby life of approximately 3-5 years under normal use. When the battery is low, the sensor's LED indicator may not flash as brightly or consistently. To replace the battery:

  1. Carefully open the sensor casing.
  2. Remove the old CR2450 battery.
  3. Insert a new CR2450 3V button battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the sensor casing securely.

No battery replacement is needed for the plug-in receiver.

Cleaning

Wipe the receiver and sensors with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the units in water (except for the IP55 rated sensors, which are splash-proof but not submersible).

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound from Receiver:
    • Ensure the receiver is properly plugged into a live power outlet.
    • Check the volume level. Press the Volume Button to increase it from 0dB (mute).
    • Verify that the sensor is correctly paired with the receiver. Refer to the "Pairing Transmitter and Receiver" section.
  • Sensor Not Triggering Chime:
    • Ensure the two parts of the sensor are separated by more than 1cm when triggered.
    • Check the sensor's battery. Replace if necessary (CR2450 3V).
    • Verify the sensor is within the 1000ft (300m) wireless range of the receiver, considering walls and obstacles that may reduce range.
    • Re-pair the sensor with the receiver.
  • Interference or False Alarms:
    • Ensure the sensor parts are securely mounted and do not shift, causing accidental separation.
    • Check for strong electromagnetic interference from other devices nearby. Try relocating the receiver or sensor.
  • Cannot Change Ringtone/Volume:
    • Ensure you are pressing the correct buttons (Forward/Backward for ringtone, Volume for volume).
    • If the receiver is unresponsive, try unplugging it and plugging it back in.
