Charging Your Device
Before initial use, fully charge your Kindle Kids device. Connect the included USB-C cable to the device and a power source. Charging times are approximately:
Approximately 4 hours when connected to a computer via USB cable.
Approximately 2 hours when connected to a 9W USB power adapter (sold separately).
Initial Setup and Wi-Fi Connection
The Kindle Kids is fully wireless and does not require a computer to download content. During the initial setup, you will be guided to connect to a Wi-Fi network. The device supports 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz networks with WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPA3, and OWE security protocols. Ad-hoc (peer-to-peer) Wi-Fi networks are not supported.
Follow the on-screen instructions to register your device to an Amazon account and set up the Amazon Kids+ profile.
Operating Your Kindle Kids
Reading Experience
The Kindle Kids features a 6-inch glare-free e-paper display with 300 ppi, optimized font technology, and a 16-level gray scale. It includes a built-in front light that is 25% brighter at its maximum setting compared to previous models, allowing for comfortable reading in various lighting conditions. Light and dark modes are available.

Battery Life
A single charge can last up to six (6) weeks, based on a half hour of reading per day with wireless off and the light setting at 13. Actual battery life may vary depending on usage, especially with Audible audiobook streaming over Bluetooth, which will reduce battery life.
Storage and Content
The device comes with 16 GB of on-device storage, capable of holding over a thousand Amazon Kids+ books. All Amazon content is also stored for free in the cloud.
Supported content formats include Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively. Through conversion, it supports PDF, DOCX, DOC, HTML, EPUB, TXT, RTF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP. Audible audio format (AAX) is also supported.

Parent Dashboard
The Amazon Parent Dashboard allows parents to manage their child's reading experience. Features include:
