Setup
Charging the Device
The DUKA LS-1 comes with a built-in rechargeable battery. Before first use, or when the battery indicator shows low power, charge the device using a standard USB power source.
- Locate the USB charging port on the side of the device (refer to Figure 4).
- Connect the provided USB charging cable to the device.
- Plug the other end of the USB cable into a compatible USB power adapter (e.g., computer USB port, wall charger, power bank).
- The battery indicator on the display will show charging status. A full charge provides approximately 3,000 measurements.
Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
- To Power On: Press the main button (circular button on the front) briefly. The display will light up.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the main button for approximately 3 seconds. The device will shut down. The device also features an automatic power-off function after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.
Measurement Units
The DUKA LS-1 supports switching between different measurement units: meters (m), inches (in), and feet (ft).
- To change units: With the device powered on, press and hold the main button for about 1-2 seconds (but less than 3 seconds to avoid powering off) until the unit changes on the display. Repeat to cycle through m, in, ft.
Taking a Measurement
The DUKA LS-1 can measure distance, area, and volume. The primary function is distance measurement.
- Ensure the device is powered on.
- Point the laser emitter (located at the top of the device) towards the target surface.
- Briefly press the main button. The laser will activate, and the measurement will be displayed on the screen almost instantly (response time 0.2 seconds).
- For area and volume measurements, multiple distance measurements are required. The device will guide you through the process by indicating which dimension to measure next on the display. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Note: For best accuracy, ensure the device is stable and the laser beam is perpendicular to the target surface.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals.
- Keep the laser lens clean to ensure accurate measurements. Use a lens cleaning cloth if necessary.
Storage
- Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- If storing for an extended period, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) to prolong its lifespan.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Battery is depleted. | Charge the device using the USB cable. |
| Inaccurate measurements. | Laser lens is dirty; Target surface is too reflective/absorbent; Device is not stable. | Clean the laser lens; Use a target plate for difficult surfaces; Ensure device is stable during measurement. |
| Display is blank or flickering. | Low battery; Device malfunction. | Charge the device. If problem persists, contact customer support. |
| Cannot change measurement units. | Incorrect button press duration. | Ensure you are pressing and holding the button for the correct duration (1-2 seconds) to cycle units, not too short (measurement) or too long (power off). |
