Setup

1. Battery Installation

The sensor requires one CR2-3V battery (not included). To install:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the sensor.
  2. Twist the cover counter-clockwise to open.
  3. Insert the CR2-3V battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the cover and twist clockwise to secure.

2. App Download and Installation

The sensor operates with the "TuyaSmart" or "Smart Life" application, available for both iOS and Android devices.

  1. Search for "TuyaSmart" or "Smart Life" in your device's app store (Apple App Store for iOS, Google Play Store for Android).
  2. Download and install the application.
  3. Register a new account or log in if you already have one.

3. Connecting to Wi-Fi

Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The sensor does not support 5GHz networks.

  1. Open the "TuyaSmart" or "Smart Life" app.
  2. Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a device.
  3. Select "Security & Sensor" and then "Water Leak Sensor (Wi-Fi)".
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to put the sensor into pairing mode (usually by pressing and holding a button on the sensor until an indicator light flashes).
  5. Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network name and password.
  6. Wait for the sensor to connect to the network. Once connected, the indicator light will stop flashing, and the device will appear in your app.

4. Placement Recommendations

Install the sensor in locations prone to water leaks or floods. Common areas include:

  • Near washing machines or dishwashers.
  • Under sinks in kitchens or bathrooms.
  • In basements or utility rooms.
  • Near water heaters or sump pumps.
  • Anywhere pipes or water lines are present.

Ensure the probe cable is positioned so that the metal sensing probe will come into contact with water first in the event of a leak.

Operating Instructions

Once installed and connected, the sensor operates automatically.

  • Water Detection: When the metal sensing probe detects water (i.e., it becomes submerged), the sensor will immediately trigger an alarm.
  • Local Alarm: The sensor will emit an audible beep to alert you to the presence of water.
  • App Notification: Simultaneously, a push notification will be sent to your smartphone via the "TuyaSmart" or "Smart Life" app, informing you of the water leak. This allows for remote monitoring and immediate action.
  • Status Monitoring: You can check the current status of the sensor (e.g., battery level, connection status) at any time through the mobile application.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The sensor's battery life is approximately 1 year (with 15 alerts/day) or 2 years (with 7 alerts/day). The app will notify you when the battery level is low. To replace the battery, follow the steps outlined in the "Battery Installation" section under Setup.
