3.1. Unpacking the Bike

Carefully cut the yellow straps around the box. Open the box and remove the protective foam. Gently lift the electric bike out of the box and remove all remaining protective packaging.

3.2. Install Handlebars

Remove the four screws from the handlebar clamp using the No. 4 Allen wrench. Position the handlebars, ensuring the focus point (target) is aligned with the center of the clamp. Secure the handlebars by tightening all four screws.

3.3. Install Kickstand

Use the small spanner to unscrew the nut on the kickstand mounting point. Attach the kickstand and tighten the screws securely with the spanner.

3.4. Install Front Wheel

Remove the red protective pin and the two caps from the front wheel axle. Align the brake disc with the slot on the fork. Insert the axle through the wheel and fork, ensuring the small hole of the spring is inserted first. Screw on the nut and tighten the lever at the back to secure the wheel.

3.5. Install Front Fender

Remove the three screws from the front fork. Position the front fender, ensuring the shortest distance of the fender comes out the front. Align the fender with the screw holes and re-screw them in. Use the smaller Allen wrench for the back screws to complete the installation.

3.6. Install Headlight

Unscrew the two screws at the back of the headlight. Remove the protective flaps. Slot the headlight into the first slot on the bike's frame. Screw to tighten the headlight. Use the spanner and Allen wrench to fully tighten the screws.

3.7. Connect Headlight Wires

Match the green cable with the green cable, ensuring the hole is aligned with the small dot. Match the red cable with the red cable, aligning the hole with the small dot. Turn on the e-bike and switch on the indicator to confirm correct connection. If the indicator shows the opposite direction, turn off the e-bike and switch the cables around.

3.8. Install Pedals

Identify the 'L' pedal for the left side and the 'R' pedal for the right side. Screw the pedals into their respective cranks. Use the spanner to tighten them securely. Follow the arrow on the pedal for the correct tightening direction.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Powering On/Off

To turn on the e-bike, press and hold the power button on the display for 2 seconds. The display will illuminate, indicating the bike is ready for use. To turn off, press and hold the power button again.

4.2. Performance Test

After assembly, perform these tests to ensure all electronic components are functioning correctly:

  • Headlight Test: Click the headlight button to turn on/off the front light.
  • Turn Signal Test: Switch the indicator to test left and right turn signals.
  • Horn Test: Press the horn button to check the horn sound.
  • Gears Test: Use the +/- buttons on the display to raise or lower the gears.
  • Accelerator Test: Gently pull the throttle to ensure the motor engages smoothly.

5. Battery & Charging

The SMARTRAVEL ST201F is equipped with a 48V/23.2Ah removable lithium-ion battery, offering 40+ miles in pure electric mode and 100+ miles in pedal assist mode (PAS mode). Charging time is approximately 4-6 hours.

5.1. Charging the Battery

You can charge the battery while it's installed on the bike or remove it for charging indoors. Plug the charger into a suitable power outlet and then into the charging port on the battery. The charger's indicator light will be red during charging and turn green when fully charged.

5.2. Removing and Re-installing the Battery

To remove the battery, unlock it by turning the keys to the left and pull the battery out. To re-install, ensure the green logo on the battery is facing up and the red logo is facing down. Slide the battery back into its compartment until it clicks into place, then lock it with the key.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your e-bike.

  • Tires: Regularly check tire pressure (20" x 4.0 fat tires) and inspect for wear or damage.
  • Brakes: Inspect the dual hydraulic pressure disc brake system regularly for wear on pads and proper function. Adjust as needed.
  • Cleaning: Clean the e-bike with a damp cloth. Avoid high-pressure water jets directly on electrical components.
  • Chain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated for smooth operation.
  • Fasteners: Periodically check all bolts and nuts for tightness.

7. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and potential solutions:

  • E-bike not turning on: Check if the battery is properly seated and charged. Ensure the key is in the 'ON' position.
  • Motor not engaging: Verify the e-bike is powered on and not in '0 Egear' (walking mode). Check all cable connections.
  • Brakes feel weak: Inspect brake pads for wear. Ensure brake levers are properly adjusted.
  • Unusual noises: Check for loose components, chain issues, or debris in the wheels.
