Neoperl Slim Coin Slot Faucet Aerator Instruction Manual

Model: 16016xx

1. Product Overview

The Neoperl Slim Coin Slot Faucet Aerator is designed to provide a splash-free, aerated water stream for kitchen and bathroom faucets. This hidden aerator features a patented construction that ensures a soft-to-the-touch flow and is virtually invisible once installed. It is pressure compensating, maintaining a constant flow rate between 20 and 80 psi.

This aerator is available in two main sizes: Standard 15/16" and Junior 13/16" male threads, with various flow rates from 1.0 gpm to 2.2 gpm. The integrated anti-liming honeycomb and anti-clogging dome screen help filter sediment and prevent mineral buildup.

2. Key Features

  • Aerated Stream: Introduces air into the water stream for a soft, white, splash-free, and non-splashing flow.
  • Pressure Compensating: Maintains a consistent flow rate from 20 to 80 psi.
  • Anti-Liming Honeycomb: Replaces conventional wire mesh screens to resist lime buildup.
  • Anti-Clogging Dome Screen: Filters sediment and particles to prevent clogs.
  • Coin Slot Installation: Designed for easy installation and removal using a coin (quarter recommended).
  • Hidden Design: Virtually invisible once installed into the faucet cavity.
  • WaterSense Listed: Meets WaterSense efficiency standards.

3. Installation Guide

Before installation, ensure you have selected the correct size aerator for your faucet. The Neoperl Slim Coin Slot Aerator comes in Standard (15/16"-27 male threads) and Junior (13/16"-27 male threads) sizes. This aerator is designed to thread directly into the cavity of a traditional male aerator and does not require an external housing.

It also shows the visual distinction between "Regular" and "Junior" coin slot designs, often corresponding to the aerator's overall size. Ensure you match the aerator size to your faucet's internal threading.

3.1. Important Compatibility Note

The Neoperl Slim Coin Slot Aerator is a Perlator Slim Coin Slot and is NOT a Cache Coin Slot. These two types are not interchangeable. Please verify your faucet requires a Perlator type aerator.

Image 3.3: This image highlights the visual differences between a Slim Perlator and a Cache Hidden Aerator. Note the distinct design features, such as the flat washer on the Perlator Coin Slot versus the O-ring on the Cache Coin Slot. This visual guide is critical for ensuring you have the correct aerator type for your faucet.

3.2. Installation Steps

  1. Remove Old Aerator: If replacing an existing aerator, unscrew it from the faucet spout. Some aerators may require a wrench or a specialized tool.
  2. Clean Faucet Spout: Clean any debris or mineral buildup from the inside of the faucet spout threads.
  3. Insert New Aerator: Place the Neoperl Slim Coin Slot Aerator into the faucet spout opening.
  4. Tighten with Coin: Use a coin (a quarter is recommended) to turn the aerator clockwise until it is snug. Do not overtighten.
  5. Test for Leaks: Turn on the water and check for any leaks around the aerator. If leaks occur, gently tighten further with the coin.

4. Operation

Once installed, the Neoperl Slim Coin Slot Faucet Aerator operates automatically with the flow of water. It mixes air into the water stream, creating a soft, white, and non-splashing flow. The pressure compensating feature ensures a consistent flow rate regardless of fluctuations in water pressure within the 20 to 80 psi range.

5. Maintenance

The Neoperl Slim Coin Slot Aerator is designed for low maintenance. Its integrated anti-liming honeycomb and anti-clogging dome screen reduce the need for frequent cleaning.

  • Regular Cleaning: If you notice a reduction in water flow or an irregular stream, the aerator may need cleaning.
  • Cleaning Steps:
    1. Turn off the water supply to the faucet.
    2. Use a coin to unscrew the aerator counter-clockwise.
    3. Rinse the aerator under running water to remove any loose debris.
    4. For stubborn mineral deposits, soak the aerator in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for 30 minutes to an hour.
    5. Gently scrub the honeycomb screen and dome screen with a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) to remove any remaining buildup.
    6. Rinse thoroughly and reinstall the aerator as described in the Installation Guide.

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Reduced water flow Clogged aerator screen due to sediment or mineral buildup. Clean the aerator as described in the Maintenance section.
Irregular or spraying water stream Partial clogging of the aerator screen or damaged components. Clean the aerator thoroughly. If the problem persists, inspect for damage and consider replacement.
Leakage around the aerator Aerator not tightened sufficiently or incorrect size/type for the faucet. Gently tighten the aerator with a coin. Ensure the correct size and type of aerator is installed.
