Operating (How to Play)
The objective of DOS is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand. Players take turns matching cards from their hand to the cards in the Center Row.
Gameplay Overview:
- Starting the Game: The player to the left of the dealer goes first.
- Matching Cards: On your turn, you must try to match one or two cards from your hand to the cards in the Center Row.
- Single Match: You can match a card from your hand to a card in the Center Row if they have the same number. The color does not need to match.
- Double Match: You can match two cards from your hand to a card in the Center Row if the sum of your two cards equals the number on the Center Row card. For example, if a '5' is in the Center Row, you can play a '2' and a '3' from your hand.
- Color Match Bonus: If you make a match (single or double) and one of your played cards also matches the color of the Center Row card, you get a bonus! You can then add one card from your hand to the Center Row, face up.
- Wild Cards: The game includes special WILD cards.
- Wild # Card: This card can be used as any number. When played, you declare its number.
- Wild DOS Card: This card can be used as any number and any color.
- Drawing Cards: If you cannot make any matches, you must draw one card from the Draw Pile. If the drawn card allows you to make a match, you may play it immediately. If not, your turn ends.
- Replenishing the Center Row: After a player makes a match, the matched cards from the Center Row are removed and placed in a discard pile. The Center Row must always have at least two cards. If it has fewer than two cards, draw cards from the Draw Pile until there are two cards in the Center Row.
- Calling "DOS!": When you have two cards left in your hand, you must yell "DOS!" If you fail to do so before another player calls you out, you must draw two penalty cards.
- Winning the Round: The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the round.
