5.1 Keyboard and Touch Sensitivity

The 88-weighted hammer-action keyboard simulates the feel of an acoustic piano. The touch-sensitive keys allow for dynamic expression; notes will sound louder or softer depending on how hard you strike them.

5.2 Selecting Sounds (Voices)

The piano offers 128 different sounds (voices). Use the dedicated buttons or the data entry dial on the control panel to browse and select your desired instrument sound. The current sound number will be displayed.

5.3 Using Rhythms (Accompaniment)

Access 600 different accompaniment styles. Select a rhythm using the control panel. The automatic accompaniment function adapts to the chords you play with your left hand, providing a full band or orchestra experience.

5.4 Dual and Split Functions

  • Dual Function: This feature allows you to layer two different voices, such as strings and piano, to create a richer, more impressive sound. Activate the Dual function and select the two desired voices.
  • Split Function: The Split function divides the keyboard into two separate zones. This is useful for playing different instruments with each hand, for example, bass with the left hand and piano with the right.

5.5 Metronome and Demo Songs

  • Metronome: Use the built-in metronome to practice with precise timing. Adjust the tempo as needed.
  • Demo Songs: The piano includes 80 demo songs. These can be used for listening pleasure or as learning aids.

5.6 Using the Pedals

The DP-17 AL comes with a 3-pedal unit. These pedals typically control Sustain, Sostenuto, and Soft functions, enhancing your playing expression. Connect the pedal unit to the designated pedal input on the piano's rear panel.

5.7 Headphones

The included dynamic headphones provide a private practice experience. They feature soft circumaural ear pads, good external sound insulation, and integrated volume control on the cable. Connect them to one of the two headphone jacks on the piano.
